4.L. Approval to submit the Education Service Center-Region 20 (ESC-20) Regional Memorandum of Understanding for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI)-Local Education Agency (LEA) Early Transition and the Edgewood ISD Special Education program.

4.M. Approval of textbook committee final recommendations for the adoption of the prekindergarten system from Scholastic, English Language Arts grades 2-5, 6-8, and I-IV from Great Source, a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Spelling grades 1-2, 3-5, 6 from Zaner-Bloser, handwriting grades 1-3 from Zaner-Bloser, Spanish Language Arts grades 2-5 from Great Source a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, English as a second language grades 6-8 from Cengage Learning.

4.N. Approval to accept Texas Education Agency funds entitled "2010-2011 Title I School Improvement Program American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Grant" for $30,713.00 and "The Title I School Improvement Program Funds" in the amount of $50,000.00 to benefit Kennedy High School's Improvement process.

5. Individual Items for Consideration and Approval:

5.A. Approval to enter into a contract with Five Star Education Solutions to provide additional tutorial services to highly at-risk students at Memorial High School in an amount not to exceed $60,000.00 from the School Improvement Grant.

5.B. Approval to enter into a contract with Effie Mata to coordinate the Supplemental Education Services for Memorial High School in an amount not to exceed $18,000.00 from the School Improvement Grant.

5.C. Proposed amendments to Board Policy FNCA (Local) relating to the student conduct dress code.
|
5.D. Approval to extend the interlocal agreements with the University of Texas at Austin Southwest Center for accelerated Schools (SCAS) to provide nine additional days of on-site coaching and support for the continued improvement at each, Memorial and Kennedy High Schools.

5.E. Approval of Individual Expenditures Equal to or Exceeding $25,000, in accordance with Policy CH (Local) and Texas Education Code Purchasing Requirements, where applicable, to wit:

5.E.1. Approval to purchase of Laptops from M&A Technology using State Technology Funds (411) in the amount of $48,125.00 for all Elementary and Secondary Teachers completing State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Technology Assessments.

5.E.2. Approval to purchase kitchen equipment for Perales Elementary School from Mission Restaurant Supply in the amount of $37,776.00 using Child Nutrition funds.

5.E.3. Approval to purchase Leveled Bookrooms and supplements from Scholastic for the elementary campuses to be used by kindergarten through fifth grade classroom teachers for a total of $203,572.00 to be funded with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.

5.E.4. Approval to purchase 136 sets of electronic interactive whiteboards from Procomputing, Carrollton, Texas, for grade 5, middle school science and math, media centers, special education classrooms, and STEM Academy, using coordinated Federal Funds including Career & Technology Education funds, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Stimulus funds, ARRA Special Education Stimulus Stabilization, Title II Career & Technology Education funds, and Title I funds in an amount not to exceed $392,811.00.

5.E.5. Approval to purchase 136 ASUS 12 inch netbook computers from M&A Technology for use with interactive whiteboards using coordinated Federal Funds that includes American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Stimulus funds, ARRA Special Education Stimulus, Stabilization, Title II Career & Technology Education Funds, and Title I funds in an amount not to exceed $50,184.00.

5.E.6. Approval to purchase 120 Epson projectors from CDW Government for use with interactive whiteboards using coordinated Federal Funds that includes American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Stimulus funds, ARRA Special Education Stimulus, Stabilization, Title II, Career & Technology Education Funds, and Title I funds in an amount not to exceed $132,000.00.

5.E.7. Approval to purchase 110 Intellikeys, 100 classroom suite licenses and one Overlay Maker from Cambium Learning Technologies for the Learning in Functional Environment (LIFE) classrooms for a total of $86,087.98 using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.

5.E.8. Approval to purchase an annual subscription to Wireless Generation for reading assessments and mathematical assessments in the amount of $62,870.00, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

5.E.9. Approval to purchase 60 IPAD2 from M&A Technology for a total of $41,940.00 using State Fiscal Stabilization funds (SFSF).

5.F. Approval of an agreement with SHW Group to design and provide specifications for the remodel at Kennedy High School not to exceed $84,000 from the fund balance.

5.G. Approval to purchase kitchen equipment for Gardendale Elementary, Coronado Elementary, Winston Elementary and Brentwood Middle School from 1st Choice Restaurant Equipment in the amount of $180,181.34 using Child Nutrition funds.

5.H. Approval for up to $10,000.00 for Early Notification of Retirement/Resignation Stipends for the first 50 administrators or secondary teachers.

5.I. Approval of consulting services from Foundations, Inc. to provide EISD with an intensive Technical Assistance Program designed to close the gap and raise the bar on grade level reading for elementary students for a total amount of not more than $25,000.00 paid with local funds.
