Regional events were held from October-December 6, 2022 with total attendance at over 700 high school Educators Rising students. These events are a collaboration between our high school Educators Rising chapters and our EPPs and collegiate Educators Rising chapters. Listed below are the Regional Coordinators along with their conference locations.

In accordance with Ark. Code Ann. 6-11-102(a)(1), the State Board will consider employing Mr. Jacob Oliva as Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, subject to confirmation by the Governor.

The applicant data from this information is used to compile the Applicant Flow Chart forms for the Affirmative Action Report, which demonstrates the composition of applicants through the selecting, hiring, promoting and terminating process.  The information is needed to measure the effectiveness of the agency's recruitment, hiring and promotion efforts and is in conformity with federal government guidelines, which require the agency to compile statistical information about applicants for employment. 

Arkansas Code Annotated §6-17-309 requires local school districts to secure a waiver when classrooms are staffed with unlicensed teachers for longer than 30 days. Requests were received from 36  school districts for a total of 62 waivers. There were also requests for long-term substitutes from 60 school districts requesting a total of 143 waivers for long-term substitutes. These requests have been reviewed, were either approved or denied by Department staff, and are consistent with program guidelines.

Violation of Standard 2. an educator maintains competence regarding his or her professional practice, inclusive of professional and ethical behavior, skills, knowledge, dispositions, and responsibilities relating to his or her organizational position. The Professional Licensure Standards Board requests the State Board of Education order a permanent revocation of the educator’s license.

Cabot School District is requesting a waiver of Standard 1-A.5 Class Size for the 2022-2023 school year for its fifth and sixth-grade Art and Music classes. The district would exceed the maximum number allowed by Standard in Cabot Middle School by 5 students. The district is compensating teachers for the overage. 

South Conway County School District is requesting a waiver of 1-A.5 Class Size. The district is over the maximum number of students allowed by Standard (28) by one student in two fifth-grade classrooms, art, and music. The district is compensating teachers for the overage. 

Consideration of the Arkansas Academic Math Standards are respectfully submitted to the State Board of Education for approval.  Groups of educators, representative of the State, revised the standards for K-12.  Schools will begin implementing standards in the 2023-2024 school year and fully implement by the 2024-2025 school year.

The Charter Authorizing Panel met on December 13 and 14, 2022, to consider renewals for the Open Enrollment Charter Schools listed below. 

Kipp Delta Public Schools
The district is requesting:  

• Renewal of the charter for a five (5) year period. 
• The campuses serve Grades PK-12.  
• The current enrollment cap is 2,600 students.  
• The charter will follow a college prep educational model.  

Premier High Schools of Arkansas
The district is requesting:  

• Renewal for a five (5) year period. 
• The campuses serve Grades 9-12.
• The current enrollment cap is 600.  
• The charter will follow a blend of an alternative learning environment and a credit recovery educational model.  

Scholarmade Achievement Place of Arkansas
The district is requesting:

• Renewal of the charter for a seven (7) year period.  
• The campus serves Grades K-9. 
• The current enrollment cap is 520 students. 
• The charter will follow a hybrid educational model.  
• Amendment request to drop Grade 9.  

eStem Public Charter Schools 
The district is requesting:  

• Renewal of the charter for ten (10) years with a report to the Panel in three (3) years.
• Digital Learning Plan and waivers approved for three (3) years.
• The campuses serve Grades K-12.  
• The current enrollment cap is 3,844 students.  
• The charter will follow a traditional educational model.  

Friendship Aspire Academies of Arkansas
The district is requesting:  

• Renewal for a ten (10) year period.  
• The campuses serve Grades K-12.  
• The current enrollment cap is 2,285 students.  
• The charter will follow a college prep educational model. 

The Charter Authorizing Panel met on December 13 and 14, 2022, to consider renewals for the District Conversion Charter Schools listed below. 

Bauxite Miner Academy
The district is requesting:  

• Renewal of the charter for five (5) years. 
• The campus serves Grades K-6 Virtual Only (Dawson Ed. Co-Op), Grades 7-12 Virtual, 6-12 Onsite.  
• The current enrollment cap is 200 students.  
• The charter will blend an alternative learning environment, a traditional, virtual only, and credit recovery educational model.  
• Amendment request to remove K-6 Virtual students from the charter.    

Polk County Virtual Academy (Mena)
The district is requesting:  

• Renewal of the charter for five (5) years. 
• The campus serves Grades K-12.  
• The current enrollment cap is 200 students. 
• The charter will follow the virtual only educational model.  

School Board President James Hartshorn and Superintendent Tracy Streeter from Hamburg School District will share and celebrate their progress in creating a system of support and alignment through collaboration from the "Boardroom to the Classroom."
