Description:  A 403(b) plan is a type of retirement account available to individuals who work in public education, employees of certain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, and ministers. It’s similar to the more commonly known 401(k) account, which is more often offered by employers in the private sector. A 403(b) is frequently used by government employees, medical professionals, librarians, self-employed ministers, and employees of public schools such as teachers and administrators.

VI. Recognition of Activities
Description: 
  1. Dr. Holen recognizes the entire staff of MCPSD#1 for their efforts to start the 2021 - 2022 school year.
VII. Old Business
Description: 
  1. Dr. Holen briefly discussed the status of the Preschool Special Education classroom project at the transportation building.  Building and grounds committee will present ongoing work in the Long Range Facility Plan later this fall.
  2. Dr. Holen explained the 2020 vs 2021 taxable valuation.  Taxable valuation decreased 1.9% from $265,302,622 in 2020 to $260,233,504 in 2021.  He provided a break out of the levies planned for the 2021 - 2022 fiscal year.  The total mills proposed would be 74.55 for 2021.  That equates to a 10.6% increase from 2020.
  3. Dr. Holen reviewed the application for the Federal Coronavirus Career and Technical Education Capital Projects Grant.  The deadline is 10/1/2021. 
  4. Dr. Holen provided a recap of the strategic planning process started in 2020.  He presented information from the special board meeting in which Dr. Schatz recapped the strategic plan. 
VIII. New Business
Description: 
  1. Dr. Holen provided a staffing update. 
  2. Dr. Holen notified the board of the changes created by HB1029.  The school approval process changed requiring an Annual Compliance Report to be filed with DPI from the school districts and individual buildings prior to October 1st.  Dr. Holen shared the eight compliance criteria met.
