2.4. Open Book Project Resources for 3rd and 4th Grade Social Studies
Description:  The following were presented for the 28-day period of examination at the July 15, 2019 Board Meeting. Administration recommends approval of these classroom resources. 
This resource will be used for Third Grade Social Studies:

2.5. Approval of the payment of the school system's bills for the month of June 2019 as listed in the check registers, prepared by Ms. Holderby, in the total amount of $10,140,653 is recommended. The distribution of obligations by fund is included int he documentation.
2.6. Approval is requested to authorize the following legal payments:
Description:  <> Thrun Law Firm, P.C. for $1,393.50, July 25, 2019, Professional Legal Fees
<> Lusk Albertson PLC for $244.43, August 6, 2019, Professional Legal Fees
3. BOARD OF EDUCATION MATTERS--PRESENTATIONS TO THE BOARD
3.1. For Action: 2019-20 Student Reinstatement Hearing Recommendations (Jaster)
Description:  Four separate Student Reinstatement Hearings were held on July 24, 2019. Present were a Board sub-committee of three Board members, Superintendent Sharrow, Associate Superintendent Jaster, school administrators and parents/representatives of Students A, B, C, D. It is the recommendation of the Board sub-committee that Students A, B, C, D be either reinstated unconditionally or denied reinstatement at this time as follows.  This action requires a roll-call vote of the Board.
Student A -- unconditionally reinstated.
Student B -- reinstatement denied at this time.
Student C -- reinstatement denied at this time.
Student D -- unconditionally reinstated.
A copy of the full resolutions will be attached to the Board Minutes.
4. REQUESTS TO ADDRESS THE BOARD: 
Description:  <> A representative of the Great Lakes Bay Invitational will address the Board regarding a check for MPS in appreciation of student volunteers who worked during this year's LPGA event.
5. FINANCE, FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS

6.1. In Memoriam
Description:  The Board and Staff extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Ms. Sharon (Sherry) Wood who passed away on August 7, 2019. Ms. Wood was a supervising secretary at H.H. Dow High for 19 years, retiring in 1996.
6.2. The following staff member announced her retirement as of this date: Tamara San Miguel, Teacher, Siebert ES, September 30, 2019

Description:  All meetings are Regular and Special Meetings of the Board of Education and begin at 7:00 p.m. at the MPS Administration Center (600 East Carpenter, Midland) unless otherwise noted.

9. STUDY DISCUSSION SESSION
Description:  This portion of the agenda is utilized by the Board to introduce topics for future study, to discuss school district related matters, to complete professional association business and to relate items of interest. No action is taken during this time. Occasionally closed sessions are scheduled to discuss confidential personnel, negotiations or property matters.
