5.a. Superintendent's Report
Description:
The 2024-25 school year is off to a good start. I expect this to be an excellent year for the Cedar Mountain School District.
The facilities committee (Jeff, Joe, Bryce) has a meeting scheduled with APEX Solutions on October 17 at 9:00 a.m. This will be a virtual meeting. The non-certified negotiations committee (Tim, Jeff, Christine) will meet with the AFSCME bargaining team soon to begin negotiating a contract. The annual MSBA Conference is January 16th and 17th at the Minneapolis Convention Center. I encourage school board members to attend. I will inform the school board when registration for the conference begins. A preview of the conference is here. The spring MCA results from last spring along with the trend are attached. Cedar Mountain students have demonstrated less proficiency in math, reading, and science compared to other students in Minnesota since 2021. I have asked the principals to develop academic improvement plans and submit them to me by November 7. |

Seth Johnson will work with MDE to correct the calculations over the next few weeks. The final levy will be approved by the board at the December 18 meeting in conjunction with the truth and taxation hearing. The superintendent recommends approving the maximum preliminary certification.
