Description:  The Native American Student Union (NASU) at Ashland Middle School created a land acknowledgment to honor the origins of the lands on which our schools operate.

Description:  Policies:
JECA Admission of Resident Students
JECB Admission of Nonresident Students
JECB-AR(1) Admission of Nonresident Students Admin Regulation
EEA Student Transportation Services

These policies have been updated to reflect the ending of open enrollment and the addition of two new legislative changes to the definition of “resident student.” The recommendation is to approve them.

JECB(3) Application for Nonresident Student-Open Enrollment should be rescinded, as this option has been eliminated through legislative action.
5. COVID-19 - Jackson County Update
Description:  Special Guest Dr. James Shames, Director of Jackson County Public Health will discuss current COVID-19 situation in Jackson County.

Description:  Ashland High School Student Body Co-presidents Luke Seeley and Josh Datz will present matters of interest to the students.

10.B.1) Budget Committee Vacancies to Fill
Description:  The district's Budget Committee has two vacancies. Former member Mark Decker's term expired June 30, 2021, and former member Jill Franko was elected to the school board. Her committee term expires June 30, 2023.

Attached is the ad used in past years to solicit nominations, along with a questionnaire which can be used by applicants. A suggested deadline is November 1, 2021, for applications.

11.A.1) JFCM Threats of Violence
Description:  This is the second reading of the OSBA recommended update for policy JFCM to better align with language from the Oregon statute and also to reflect an equity lens.

11.B. Extension of Strategic Plan Goals Timeline
Presenter:  Board Chair Eva Skuratowicz
Description:  At its summer retreat in August, the Board discussed extending the timeline for achieving the goals stated in the strategic plan "Pathways to Excellence" from 2023 to 2025, acknowledging the disruptions to progress that have occurred during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. Question: Should the time line for the strategic plan be amended to include the years 2018-2025?

12.A. Student Handbooks for 2021-2022
Description:  The Board will receive for review the student handbooks for the new school year.

12.B. AEA-ASD Covid-19 Vaccination Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
Presenter:  Director of Human Resources Laurie Rooper
Description:  The Board will review the MOA agreed to by district administration and the AEA bargaining team governing the implementation of the Oregon state requirement that all school employees be vaccinated against COVID-19, with stated exceptions as allowed under Oregon state law. Question: Should the Board approve the AEA-ASD Memorandum of Agreement concerning required COVID-19 vaccination as presented?

13. The Board will adjourn into Executive Session per ORS 192.660 (2)(d) to conduct deliberations with persons designated by the governing body to carry on labor negotiations.

15.A. The Board will hold a work session on Monday, September 20, at 7:00 pm, in the District Office boardroom, 885 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Members of the public may participate via a Zoom link. A construction update on bond projects will be the focus.
15.B. The Board will hold a Work Session on Monday, September 27 at 7:00 pm, in the District Office boardroom, 885 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Members of the public may participate via a Zoom link.
15.C. The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at 7:00 pm at 1175 East Main Street, Ashland, Oregon. Members of the Public may be required to participate via Zoom link.
