Description:
The Board will discuss with search consultant Hank Harris of Human Capital Enterprises and communications consultant Kelly Jenkins the timeline and ongoing process to recruit candidates for District Superintendent beginning July 1, 2024.

3.A. AEA-ASD Memorandum of Agreement for Extra Duty Stipends
Description:
Establishes extra duty stipends for the AMS Drama position and LETRS staff. LETRS are reading specialists supported by a grant that the District received.

3.B. AEA-ASD Memorandum of Agreement for Paid Leave Oregon (PLO)
Description:
This MOA sets forth the procedures for implementing the new Paid Leave Oregon benefit for certified employees.

4. Questions on Pending Board Policy Updates 15 minutes

Description:
Policy updates were deferred from the October 12 Consent Agenda. An opportunity for questions before considering them at the November 9 Regular Session.

4.A. Policy AC Nondiscrimination
Description:
This required policy update adds Gender Identity as a protected class and contains some other minor wording changes.

4.B. Policy GBA Equal Employment Opportunity
Description:
This update adds several new protected classes to the list of those against whom employment discrimination is prohibited. These resulted from recent Oregon legislative actions related to pregnancy and childbirth, military service, nontraditional families, and juveniles.

4.C. Policy IGBHA Alternative Education Programs
Description:
This update made some modest wording changes.
|
4.D. Policy IL Assessment Program
Description:
This update removes references to Essential Skills requirements waived currently, adds Gender Identity as a protected class, and clarifies the steps for opting out of state summative assessments.

4.E. Policy JB Equal Educational Opportunity
Description:
This update adds several new groups to the list of protected classes following legislative actions in Oregon. In addition, because the overhaul of the Sexual Harassment policies a couple of years ago focused closely on Title IX, OSBA has recommended removing Title IX from this policy to avoid duplication.

4.F. Policy JFCF Hazing, Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying, Menacing, Cyberbullying, Teen Dating Violence, or Domestic Violence - Students
Description:
This policy has undergone a couple of revisions resulting from legislative changes and OSBA has now recommended deleting all of the old versions and adopting this replacement. The section on Notification to Parents and Guardians is the major new addition. This version also added headings for Training and Education, and Notice. The text in both sections remains the same.
