Presenter:
C Johnson
Description:
This topic was discussed last fall. This is a reminder that open enrollment transportation for students on IEPs beyond the open enrolling district border is no longer eligible for special education funding after this current fiscal year. This goes back to the Osseo Court decision. The letter that was shared with district's last fall is attached again for your information.
A district may continue to travel within the boundaries of another district. This decision does not preclude that from happening.

VIII.D. Youth Skills Training
Presenter:
C Johnson
Description:
On February 5th, Burke Murphy, our Workforce Lead, presented to the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs on the Learn & Earn Youth Skills Training in Goodhue County - building partnerships and resilience to an audience of teachers and administrators.
The five virtual industry tours delivered to our Learn & Earn students in November and December were very much appreciated and well received. Introducing our students to as many of our Goodhue County Employer Partners and the occupational opportunities they offer, is of the utmost importance to our Learn & Earn program. Virtual Industry Tours will continue through February and potentially March. On January 11th L&E Students met representatives from Gemini Sign Products, Ms. Margaret Lampman, HR and Mr. Brian Niehaus, Plant Manager, Cannon Falls and at Hearth & Home in Lake City, with Ms. Wendy Verdouw-Blodgett, HR Manager and Mr. Christopher Fischer, Plant Manager. We are so grateful to our employer partners for their ongoing participation and investment in the students participating in our Learn & Earn program. |
