The Health Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 requires schools to charge students of paid meals at a price that is, on average, equal to the difference between the federal free meal reimbursements and any state reimbursements, and the paid meal reimbursement. Schools that currently charge less are required to gradually increase their prices over time until they meet the requirement. The current lunch price at Duluth Public Schools does not meet the paid lunch equity price ($3.00); we are required to increase our lunch price by ten cents. |

2.H. Child Nutrition Student Meal Price Increases

The current lunch price at Duluth Public Schools does not meet the paid lunch equity price ($3.00); we are required to increase our lunch price by ten cents. |
|
Description:
Recommendation: It is recommended that the price for student lunch meals for both elementary and secondary schools be increased by ten cents. This would increase elementary student lunch costs from $2.50 to $2.60 per meal and secondary lunch costs from $2.75 to $2.85 per meal. |
