5. PROCLAMATION:  Board Member Recognition Month                                         
Each year in January, we like to take time to recognize the selfless members of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District Board of Education. They work tirelessly throughout a six-year term to see that every child within the vast boundaries of Walled Lake Schools receives the very best education possible.
6. PUBLIC COMMENTARY
Citizens interested in participating through public commentary are asked to complete the Public Comment Request Form by visiting www.wlcsd.org/publiccomment, previous to the start of the meeting. All requests for public commentary received previous to the start of the meeting will have the opportunity to speak during the virtual meeting or choose to have their comments reflected in the meeting minutes.

10. FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE UPDATE
Mrs. Michelle Bianco, Foundation for Excellence Executive Director, will present an update on the Foundation whose mission champions "Every Child, Every Day" and promotes excellence in public education.
11. NEW COURSE OFFERING
Mr. Timothy McBride, Northern High School Career Tech Education Teacher, will be presenting a new course offering, Cybersecurity (CTE Course), for the Board's consideration. The new course has been through a pilot year, and all curriculum is aligned with State and National standards. Program materials are available for the Board's review. The new course offering for the Program of Studies has been endorsed by Administration and a motion for approval of its adoption will be presented at the February 4, 2021, Board meeting.
12. EXTENDED COVID-19 LEARNING PLAN
As outlined in Public Act 149 of 2020, districts are required to create an extended COVID-19 learning plan for the 2020-21 academic year. Michigan legislature recently passed House Bills 5911, 5912, 5913 (2020) signed by Governor Whitmer on August 20, 2020. Under the new law, in order to receive state aid for the 2020-2021 school year, the District must provide, for the 2020 2021 school year, instruction under an extended COVID-19 learning plan that is reauthorized monthly by the Board of Education. Administration recommends the Board reauthorize the Walled Lake Schools' Extended COVID-19 Learning Plan plan as presented.
13. K-8 FALL ASSESSMENT DATA
Michigan's "Return to Learn" legislation (Public Act 149 sec. 104.9) was signed into law on August 20, 2020. As part of the required COVID-19 plans, districts must identify educational goals expected to be achieved for learners during the 2020-21 academic year. The law states: the Goals must include an assurance that the district shall select a benchmark assessment or benchmark assessments that are aligned to state standards and an assurance that the district shall administer the benchmark assessment or benchmark assessments to all pupils as prescribed under section 104 to determine whether pupils are making meaningful progress toward mastery of these standards.
14. RESOLUTION: BOARD REVIEW OF HEAD START PROGRAM
In accordance with the federal Head Start Performance Standards, the Walled Lake Consolidated School District Board of Education is the governing body of the District's Head Start program. The Policy Committee approved the Policy Code of Operations at their December 17, 2020, meeting. and to comply with all federal contract regulations, Walled Lake Schools' Head Start requests the Board review and approve the Policy Committee Code of Operations.
