4. TEXTBOOK RECOMMENDATION - ANATOMY / PHYSIOLOGY
The current Anatomy and Physiology textbook and materials are over twenty-five years old. This textbook no longer aligns with current science practices and standards. Based on the results of the examination of available products, it is the committee’s recommendation to adopt Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pearson, 2022, which includes a textbook and online support. The cost will not exceed $30,000 and includes student editions, all teacher support materials, online access, technology and shipping. This process has been endorsed by Administration and a motion for approval of the textbook adoption will be presented at the January 9, 2025, meeting.

9.a. Award of Bond Bid Package #8 - WLN, OPS Renovations, and WLC Mechanical Upgrades, $17,608,456.23 - 2019 Bond Funds
Walled Lake Consolidated School District solicited and received bids for the Walled Lake Northern (WLN), Operations and Maintenance (OPS) Renovations and Walled Lake Central (WLC) Mechanical Upgrades identified to be funded through the 2019 bond proceeds. The bid process was facilitated through the mutual efforts of WLCSD administration, TMP Architecture, PMR and Auch Construction (The Project Team). The recommendation from the Team is to award the bid package to the recommended contractors, as the lowest responsive bidders, in an amount not to exceed $17,608,456.23 including all recommended alternates. |
9.b. Contract for Security Glazing Services, $204,234.00 – School Safety grants
Walled Lake Consolidated School District solicited and received bids for Security Glazing for identified areas throughout the district to promote safety and security. The bid process was facilitated through the mutual efforts of WLCSD administration, TMP Architecture, PMR and Auch Construction (The Project Team). The recommendation from the Team is award the contract to Michigan Glass Coatings, the lowest responsive bidder, in an amount not to exceed $204,234.00.

10. FACILITY STUDY RECOMMENDATION

11. APPOINTMENT: ARCHITECT FOR 2024 BOND PROGRAM
For more than 35 years, TMP Architecture, Inc. of Bloomfield Hills, has provided architectural design services for new construction and renovations across the District. TMP has always committed to a collaborative, customer-focused design process that results in attractive facilities that are functional and meet the instructional needs of the students and staff of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools. Administration recommends continuing to use TMP Architecture for architectural services not to exceed $11,779,130 for the 2024 Bond Program.

12. RESOLUTION: SECTION 105 LIMITED SCHOOLS OF CHOICE
For many years, Walled Lake Consolidated Schools has been open to Section 105 Schools of Choice under the State School Aid Act. Under this section, a pupil may enroll from one Oakland County school district to another. The administration is requesting that the Board of Education approve Walled Lake Consolidated Schools as a participant in Section 105 Limited Schools of Choice for the 2025-2026 school year with a designation of school openings not to exceed 5% of the most recent October count in any individual school and not to exceed 10% of the most recent October Count for the 2025-26 school year, specific to Kindergarten. |
13. RESOLUTION: MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL BOARDS (MASB) BOARD OF DIRECTORS, GROUP VI NOMINATION
The Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) Board of Directors is comprised of 22 members: 16 directors elected from the eight regions (two elected from each); one director each from Groups V, VI and VII; and three at-large directors. Group and Region directors are elected by active member school boards and each year several seats are up for election. Article VIII, Section 7 of the MASB Bylaws permits local school districts to nominate MASB Board of Director candidates for open positions. The Walled Lake Schools Board of Education will vote to nominate Mr. Marc Siegler as a candidate to represent the MASB Board of Directors, Group VI, school districts with a pupil membership of 11,001 - 40,000; for a three-year term. |
