Description:

It is my pleasure to introduce Reese Payton, a senior at Levelland High School and a proud member of the Class of 2027.

Throughout his years at Levelland, Reese has distinguished himself through athletics, music, academics, and leadership.

Reese began playing tennis in the seventh grade and has built an impressive career on the court. During his junior year, he joined the Century Club, earning his 100th individual win in February. Entering his senior year, Reese ranks 8th all-time in individual wins in Levelland ISD history. He was named 2023 Mixed Doubles Second Team All-District and is also a two-time District Semifinalist.

Reese’s dedication extends beyond the tennis court and onto the marching field. He began band in sixth grade and has continued as a percussionist throughout high school. In 2025, he received the Best Marcher Award for Percussion and was part of the band’s UIL Regional Competition First Division performance. For the 2026-2027 school year, Reese serves as the Percussion Section Leader.

Academically, Reese has earned A/B Honor Roll recognition during both the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years and received the History Award in 2025-2026. He also served on the Student Advisory Committee during his junior year and is a National Honor Society member for 2026-2027.

Reese also discovered his passion for guitar and singing in sixth grade, when he received his first guitar for Christmas. In those early years, you could often find him singing and playing guitar at LMS socials. He took lessons and participated in Youth Live at South Plains College for multiple years. After years of practicing, performing, singing, and writing his own music, Reese began playing gigs during his junior year. Today, you can find him performing at local restaurants and venues, as well as at the Levelland Farmers Market.

This summer, Reese and his cousin won a Battle of the Bands competition. As a result, they will have the opportunity to work with a Texas country music producer to record an original song that will be promoted and played on Texas country music radio. On October 9, Reese will also perform with the SPC Jukebox at Cotton and Crude.

From the tennis court to the percussion section, from the classroom to the stage, Reese has spent his high school years demonstrating dedication, leadership, creativity, and a willingness to put in the work.

Please join me in welcoming Levelland High School senior, Reese Payton!
