1. 6:15-6:45 School Board Listening Session.  Board Director Karrin Lindow will be available in the Cafeteria/Commons to listen to public comments, questions, and concerns.  The school board member may share comments regarding the agenda with the full school board during the school board meeting.

Description:  Mr. Phillips has taught Social Studies and been an Advisor for Student Council for us for the past year.  We wish him well in the future.

9.c. Approve Probationary Period Extension - Ian Johnson, Social Studies Teacher
Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  Mr. Johnson is making a switch from teaching in an out-of-field permission in special education to teaching secondary social studies.
He and the Teacher's Union have agreed to this one-year extension of his probationary period to allow for him to be mentored and evaluated as a Social Studies teacher.

9.d. Approve Overnight Field Trip Request - Varsity Boys and Girls Golf Teams in Virgina, May 24-26
Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  The golf team is participating in the Region 7A Subsection/Section tournament in Virginia, Minnesota from May 24-26.  Virginia is three hours from Nevis and the start times are early in the morning.  It makes sense for them to stay overnight.

They have the appropriate number and gender make-up of chaperones.

9.e. Approve Overnight Field Trip Request - Varsity Track Section Meet in Moorhead-Ada, June 2-3
Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  The varsity track team will be competing in the section meet at Ada.  The team has elected to use Fund 21 to pay for the overnight stay.  They will have three chaperones and are covered for male and female supervision.
9.f. Approve Resolution - Minnesota State High School League Membership Renewal, 2022-2023
Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  Annually, the school board must renew membership in the MSHSL.  The resolution affirms the district's intent to follow all the high school league's constitutions, bylaws, and regulations.

9.g. Recognize Continued Health Insurance Agreement with the Public Employees Insurance Program (PEIP) for the 2023 and 2024 School Years
Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  The Public Employee Insurance Program (PEIP) presented our insurance committee with a 2.5% reduction in premiums for the 2022-2023 school year.  The reduction equates to over $23,000 savings compared to the next closest bidder.  The school district has been a part of the PEIP network for four years and will be a seamless transition for employees and office staff.

Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  Ms. Thon is a recent graduate of SDSU with a degree in Agricultural Education.  She is looking forward to continuing the great start Ashley Anderson had this year.  She is a Tier 3 Teacher and is currently completing the requirements for a Minnesota Teacher License.

Description:  Mr. Johnson has agreed to a one-year extension of his probationary period to accept the position of 7-12 Social Studies.  He has served as a Middle School SPED teacher in an out-of-field assignment for four years.

10.d. Approve Proposal - VAALER Insurance, Insurance Risk Management Proposal for 2023
Description:  The 2023 proposal is $89,306.89 which is only a $230 increase over the 2022 property and risk management premium for the last school year.  Kudos to Theresa in the Business Office and to our safety-conscious employees for helping to manage our Workman's Comp related injuries to keep the EM at .69.

10.e. Approve Contract - Brian Michaelson, Principal
Presenter:  Dr. Parks
Description:  The negotiation team met with Mr. Michaelson.  The team agreed in principle to the following contract extension from 2022-2024:

1. 3% increase in SY 2023
2. 3% increase in SY 2024
3.  Adjust mileage reimbursement to 0.30 cents per mile
4.  Allow the principal to carry over one personal day each year
5.  Increase VEBA to the same as all bargaining units
6.  Increase $403b contribution by $600
