1.A. Duluth Figure Skating Club Request

The Duluth Public Schools has been contacted by Robyn Jones, a representative of the Duluth Figure Skating Club, regarding a request for affiliation with the Duluth Public Schools as a community-sponsored club by which participating high school students will be able to letter if they meet set criteria approved by the Directors of Student Activities at Central and East.  Robyn Jones and Becky Hall from the Duluth Figure Skating Club presented information regarding this request.
1.B. Sustainable Duluth Public Schools Presentation

Judy Seliga and Shawn Roed presented an introduction of the Sustainable Duluth Public Schools group along with a brief outline of what they have been doing and their vision for  Duluth Public Schools' sustainability.
1.C. Data Coach Update

Terri Huttel, Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, presented an update on the Curriculum Coaches recently hired as part of the Duluth Public Schools' Strategic Plan to help close the student achievement gap and accelerate learning for all students.
1.D. Standards Based Elementary Report Card

Assistant Superintendent Bill Gronseth shared information and had dialogue with Board members on the new Standards Based Elementary Report Card.
1.E. Duluth Academy Update

Superintendent Keith Dixon presented an update on the Duluth Academy.  
1.F. Anti-Bullying Training Update

Superintendent Keith Dixon shared information on the Duluth Public Schools' anti-bullying training initiative that is underway.

3.B. Resolution E-10-10-2822 - Acceptance of Grant Awards to Duluth Public Schools

Attached is Resolution E-10-10-2822- Acceptance of Grant Awards to Duluth Public Schools, to accept and approve grant awards for the following organizations:

    1.  Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation
    2.  Northland Foundation
    3.  MN State Colleges & Universities and MN Department of Education
    4.  NE MN State Health Improvement Program (SHIP)
3.C. Articulation Agreement with Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College

Attached for Board approval is a copy of the Advanced Standing Agreement between Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and  STC's Early Childhood and Educational Professions Program.  There is no cost associated with this agreement to the Duluth Public Schools.  Jim Arndt, Principal of STC, and Shonda Peller, Early Childhood Program teacher at STC, were available to answer any questions.
3.D. Access to Internet Student Data - Non-District Employees

It is recommended that Lutheran Social Services be granted access to the Student Information System to support District functions from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.

This will allow specific people associated with Lutheran Social Services access to certain educational data maintained by the Duluth Public Schools.  The Superintendent will approve all individual access on a case-by-case basis.
3.E. Extended Trip Requests

The following extended trip requests are submitted for approval: 

HOSA students from STC will attend the HOSA Fall Delegate Assembly Leadership Conference at the Sheraton South Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota on November 4-5, 2010.  The cost of the trip is $112.77 per student, which will be funded with student fees. 

HOSA students from STC will attend the HOSA Fall State Officers Training at a location to be determined on November 18-19, 2010.  The cost of the trip is $135.56 per student and will be funded with student activity fees.

The following students have completed all high school requirements and should be awared a diploma:
