Consideration of appeal of Accredited (Cited) status for Lincoln School District. The district employed a teacher without a license for the school year without obtaining a Long Term Sub exception or a provisional license until May 5, 2023 of the current school year. 

Violation of Standards 2-B.2 which states that "[e]ach public school district shall maintain accurate student attendance records in a format prescribed by the Division."(D/P) and Standard 3-A.3 "[e]ach public school district shall submit accurate and timely reports deemed necessary to assure compliance with federal and state law and the rules of the Division, as requested."(D/C)

Arkansas Code Annotated § 6-17-309 requires local school districts to secure a waiver when classrooms are staffed with unlicensed teachers for longer than 30 days. Requests were received from 0 school districts for a total of 0 waivers. There were also requests for long-term substitutes from 10 school districts requesting a total of 15 waivers for long-term substitutes. These requests have been reviewed, were either approved or denied by DESE staff, and are consistent with program guidelines.
