Pat O'Connell and Andy Holak of the Duluth Chargers LaCrosse Team were present to provide information on the Team's request to enter into an Independent Provider Agreement with the Duluth Public Schools.

The following programs have completed the CTE Program Approval process and have been approved by the Minnesota Department of Education's Adult and Career Education Department through November 30, 2017:

Attached are revisions to Policy 1140 - Tobacco-Free School District for the first reading. Members of the Student Policy Committee were available to answer any questions.
2.C. Extended Trip Requests

The following extended trip requests are submitted for review and approval:

Congdon Park Elementary's fourth grade students will be traveling to the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, Minnesota from March 27-29, 2013 where they will have an experiential learning opportunity helping them meet the Minnesota State Standards in Science and Physical Education.  The total cost of the trip is $13,745 and will be funded through fundraising activities, PTA donation, and student fees.

Duluth Public Schools FCCLA-HERO students will be traveling to the Crowne Plaza Minneapolis North in Minneapolis, Minnesota from April 28-30, 2013 to compete in the State Competition and participate in leadership training.  The total cost of the trip is $2,133 and will be funded through donations and student fees.

Twenty Duluth Public Schools eleventh and twelfth grade HOSA students will be traveling to the Best Western Kelly Inn in St. Cloud, Minnesota to participate in the Spring Leadership and State Competition Conference from April 16-19, 2013.  The total cost of the trip is $6,060 and will be funded with student fees.

Duluth Public Schools Skills USA Minnesota students in grades nine-twelve will be traveling to the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota to participate in the State Skills USA Competition from April 5-7, 2013 where they will be participating in the Culinary Competition.  The total cost of the trip is $1,326.41 and will be funded through grant dollars and student fees.

Denfeld's Automotive Skills USA Club will be traveling to the Hilton Bloomington in Minneapolis, Minnesota from April 5-7, 2013 to participate in the State Conference, where they will be interacting and competing with other Minnesota high school teams.  The total cost of the trip is $1,984.50 and will be funded with student activity funds and grant dollars.
