Jay Roesler, Director of Community Education, and Beth Tamminen, Supervisor of Adult Basic Education (ABE), highlighted various aspects of Community Education and ABE and presented an overview of required  2009-10 Minnesota Department of Education reports for these programs.

Keith Dixon, Bill Gronseth, Tawnyea Lake, and Katie Kaufman presented information on enrollment trends in the Duluth Public Schools.

3.B. Resolution E-2-11-2859 - Fred W. Hase Family Scholarship

Attached is Resolution E-2-11-2859 - Fred W. Hase Family Scholarship, to authorize that the scholarship be divided equally between East and Denfeld High Schools upon the closing of Central High School.
3.C. Resolution E-2-11-2856 - Acceptance of Grant Awards to Duluth Public Schools

Attached is Resolution E-2-11-2856 - Acceptance of Grant Awards to Duluth Public Schools, to accept and approve grant awards from the following organization:

3.D. Extended Trip Requests

The following extended trip requests are submitted for approval:

Lowell School's fourth grade students will be traveling to Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, Minnesota from April 27-29, 2011 where they will participate in non-traditional classes taught by Wolf Ridge staff.  The cost of the trip is $125 per student and will be funded through student fees and fund-raising activities.

STC's FCCLA-HERO students will be participating/competing in the State Leadership Conference at the Sheraton Crown Plaza Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota from April 17-19, 2011.  The total cost of the trip is $3,035 and will be funded through student fees and Carl Perkins grant dollars.

STC's Automotive Program students will be participating/competing in the 2011 SkillsUSA State Conference and Skill Competition at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota from March 25-27, 2011.  The total cost of the trip is $2,310 and will be funded through student fees and Carl Perkins grant dollars.

East High School Orchestra students will be traveling to Chicago, Illinois from April 30-May 2, 2011 to perform, attend a Chicago Symphony Concert, and visit various museums and other attractions in Chicago.  The total cost of the trip is $575 per student and will be funded through student fees.

East and Central High School DECA students will be participating/competing in the DECA State Competition at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota from March 6-8, 2011.  The cost of the trip is $160 per student and will be funded through student fees and Carl Perkins grant dollars.
3.E. ISD 709 Calendar 2011-12 School Year Corrections

Attached is a revised ISD 709 Calendar 2011-12 School Year, which was initially approved by the Duluth School Board on December 21, 2010.  The revised calendar reflects the correct M.L.K. Winter Recess Day and Independence Day Holiday.

The following students have completed all high school requirements and should be awared a diploma:
