The Snyder ISD Board of Trustees will be introduced to the 2026-2027 Student Ambassador Committee. These students in grades 6-12 will meet monthly with district leaders to share student perspectives, identify challenges, and help develop practical solutions. The committee represents a variety of grades, experiences, interests, and perspectives from across Snyder ISD.

The Superintendent will provide the Board with an update on the implementation and progress of the Superintendent Entry Plan, including key activities, stakeholder engagement, observations, and next steps.

The beginning-of-year data collection window has closed, and district staff are organizing and analyzing results. The district is using 2025-2026 STAAR results alongside 2026-2027 BOY data to strategically identify priorities and drive improved student outcomes. This work is aligned with the district’s Strategic Plan priorities of Students, Staff, Stakeholders, and Stewardship. A comprehensive Strategic Plan update and review of BOY data will be presented at the September 28, 2026 Board Workshop.

Snyder ISD will celebrate Homecoming Week September 14-18, 2026. The Superintendent will provide a brief overview of Homecoming activities and opportunities for students, staff, families, alumni, and the community to participate in and celebrate Tiger pride.

The district’s next Instructional Rounds will take place on September 16, 2026. During the last round, district leaders visited more than 40 classrooms across Snyder ISD to identify systemwide trends and opportunities for continued instructional improvement. Up to three Board members are invited to join the September 16 rounds to see the work firsthand and participate in the district’s system-learning process.

September 25, 2026, will be a district professional development day for Snyder ISD staff. The day will provide focused learning and collaboration aligned with district and campus priorities, including strengthening Tier 1 instruction, effective PLC and data-driven practices, and continued implementation of the district’s instructional priorities.

The next Board Workshop is scheduled for September 28, 2026. The next Regular Board Meeting is scheduled for October 12, 2026.

Administration will present the 2026-2027 Snyder ISD District Improvement Plan. The plan outlines district goals, performance objectives, strategies, and action steps designed to improve student outcomes, strengthen district systems, and support the priorities of the Snyder ISD Strategic Plan. The plan was developed using district data and stakeholder input and will be monitored throughout the school year.

 

The Board will consider approval of the 2026-2027 state-required improvement plans for campuses identified for intervention: Snyder Primary Local Improvement Plan (LIP), Snyder Intermediate Targeted Improvement Plan (TIP), and Snyder Junior High Turnaround Plan (TAP). These plans identify required improvement priorities, strategies, actions, and progress-monitoring measures based on campus performance and accountability requirements.

Administration will present the 2026-2027 Campus Improvement Plans for Snyder ISD campuses. Each plan identifies campus needs, goals, performance objectives, strategies, and actions designed to improve student outcomes and support district Strategic Plan priorities. The plans were developed using campus data and stakeholder input and will be monitored and updated throughout the school year.

Administration will provide the Board with an update regarding the proposed reconfiguration of Snyder ISD’s elementary campuses. The proposed configuration would transition the current Primary Campus to serve students in Grades 1-5 and the current Intermediate Campus to serve students in Pre-Kindergarten-Kindergarten.

The update will include continued planning related to facilities, instructional programming, staffing, transportation, operations, and other considerations necessary for a successful transition. Administration will also review anticipated next steps and the timeline for continued planning and implementation.

HB 3033 more narrowly defines "business days." Under the revised statute, the only days that do not count as business days concerning public information requests are the following:

• Weekends - Saturday or Sunday;
• National Holidays - New Year’s Day (Jan. 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 18), Presidents Day (Feb. 15), Memorial Day (May 31), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (Sept. 7), Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26), and Christmas Day (Dec. 25);
• State Holidays - Confederate Heroes Day (Jan. 19), Texas Independence Day (March 2), San Jacinto Day (April 21), Emancipation Day (June 19), and Lyndon B. Johnson Day (Aug. 27);
• The Friday before or the Monday after a holiday described above if the holiday occurs on a Saturday or Sunday and the governmental body observes the holiday on that Friday or Monday; and
• The statute permits the Board of Trustees to designate up to 10 additional days each calendar year when the district’s administrative offices are closed or operating with minimal staff that may be used in calculating deadlines.

The Superintendent recommends approval of the Designated Non-Business Days, as presented.

The Board will consider and take action to approve an ordinance adopting the 2026-2027 Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate of $0.6754 and the Interest and Sinking (I&S) tax rate of $0.0293, for a total tax rate of $0.7047 per $100 of taxable value.

In accordance with Texas Tax Code §26.05, the governing body of each taxing unit is required to adopt a tax rate for the current tax year and notify the taxing unit’s assessor of the adopted rate within the statutory timeline.

 

The Board will consider approval of Snyder ISD’s Property and Casualty insurance coverage for the 2026-2027 policy year. The proposed policy is through Insurica at a total cost of $701,374.

 

The Board will consider appointing a Delegate and Alternate to represent Snyder ISD at the 2026 Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Delegate Assembly. The Delegate Assembly is TASB’s official membership meeting, where member boards participate in setting the direction of the Association, including consideration of advocacy priorities, election of TASB directors and officers, and other Association business.

The 2026 Delegate Assembly will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, during txEDCON in Houston. Each active member board may appoint one Delegate and one Alternate. Both representatives may participate on the Assembly floor, with each member board receiving one vote.

Administration will provide the Board with Snyder ISD’s 2025-2026 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) District Status Summary, based on 2024-2025 financial data. Snyder ISD earned a perfect score of 100 and a rating of "A - Superior Achievement," demonstrating strong financial management and accountability across the indicators established by the Texas Education Agency.

Administration recommends revising student cafeteria charge limits to better support students and families while maintaining appropriate financial accountability. Students will be permitted to accrue up to $50 in negative charges for reimbursable meals and up to $10 in negative charges for non-reimbursable or à la carte purchases.

The Food Service Secretary will regularly report outstanding balances to campus principals, so campuses can work directly with families, assist with meal applications and available supports, and address balances before students reach the established limits. Once the applicable charge limit is reached, additional charges in that category will not be permitted and a sack lunch will be provided.

Primary and Intermediate students continue to receive reimbursable meals at no cost; however, the $10 limit for non-reimbursable or à la carte purchases will apply.
