5.3. HIRES
Description:  RECOMMENDED MOTION: To hire Gretchen Hillesheim as a Long Term Substitute Teacher for the 2021-22 school year. (Seniority Date: August 24, 2021. Salary: Based on the Agreement Between ISD 2071 and the Education Association).

RECOMMENDED MOTION: To hire Jan Lewis as a Part Time Food Service Assistant beginning August 30, 2021.  Salary: Based on the Agreement between the Education Association and ISD 2071. 

RECOMMENDED MOTION: To hire Abbie Welsch as an Elementary Paraprofessional beginning August 30, 2021.  Salary: Based on the Agreement between the Education Association and ISD 2071. 

RECOMMENDED MOTION: To hire Chris Johannes as an Elementary Paraprofessional beginning August 30, 2021.  Salary: Based on the Agreement between ISD 2071 and the Classified Association. 

RECOMMENDED MOTION: To hire Paige Simon as a Student Council Co-Advisor for the 2021-22 school year.  Salary: Based on the "C" Schedule.  
 
5.4. CHILDCARE LEAVE REQUEST
Description:  Recommended Motion: To approve a childcare leave request from Hannah Ambrose beginning February 21, 2022 through June 6, 2022.  In the event her child is born earlier or later, her leave will be adjusted accordingly.  
5.5. Approve minutes of August 16, 2021 regular meeting.
5.6. Approve bills totaling $340,774.72; wire transfers $258,191.20; student activity fees totaling $4,243.01. 
 

5.7. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF LAKE CRYSTAL WELLCOME MEMORIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, DECLARES;

The school district shall neither promote nor disparage any political belief or nonbelief. Instead, the school district encourages all students and employees to have a respect and tolerance for each other’s views.

The school district also recognizes that historical perspectives have had and are continuing to have a significant role in the social, cultural and political development of civilization. However, the role of the school district is to educate on perspective and relevance without indoctrination.

The school district recognizes that one of its educational objectives is to increase its students’ knowledge and appreciation for the historical and political events, knowing perspectives, and forming individual values from that knowledge.

The school district will develop a curriculum that follows the state required guidelines fostering perspectives, content, time and place of historical events. Classroom instruction should represent an objective manner without political preferences.  The district is obligated and is compelled to follow the following statement because we receive federal funds; “No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, disability, or sexual orientation, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefit of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any of its educational policies, scholarships, loans, tuition remission, fee waivers, educational programs, athletics, or extracurricular activities.

10.7. CERTIFY PROPOSED TAX LEVY (Action) 

Description:  Levy Limitation and Certification - School district property tax levies are limited by state law. The Minnesota Department of Education computes the levy limitation for each school district.  The school district then certifies the levy, which is sent to the county auditor and the MDE by September 30. The county then sends out the tax statements, collects the tax, and makes payments to the school districts.

Recommended Motion: To approve the proposed 2021 Payable 2022 Property Tax Levy to the maximum amount and certify to the County Auditor and to the Minnesota Department of Education by September 30, 2021. (Appendix)
