II.D. Energy - Natural Gas and Electricity Update
Description:
The District is in the process of transitioning its energy (gas and electricity) management from the Illinois Energy Consortium (IEC) to Nania Energy. Following significant market instability, we have executed documents to transition gas over at a locked in rate of .49 per therm for 36 months. This rate represents a reduction in total gas cost, as we currently pay .68 per therm. This 36 month agreement will go into effect in December.
We continue to watch the market closely for the opportunity to lock in our electricity at as low a rate as possible and hope to do so within the next few weeks. Amy will provide an additional update. |
