4.A.1. Title I Teacher Step Placement Exception

Description:
Recommended action: Approve a one-time exception to Hiring Procedure Section D.a to place the in-person Title I Teacher candidate at Step 3 ($56,963.88) rather than Step 0.. Rationale: The in-person Title I Teacher position has been posted for an extended period and received no other applicants. The District Superintendent has approved this as an emergency hire to fill a vacant position. This exception is based solely on the emergency need to fill the position and the length of the vacancy. It is not based on the candidate's experience or credentials, does not change the District's step 0 placement for external hires, and does not establish precedent for any future hire. The step 0 offer letter already extended remains the offer; if this exception is not approved, step 0 stands. |

Background: The Minnesota School Safety Center (Department of Public Safety) has offered on-site Safe School Facility Assessment visit dates of November 12 or November 18, 2026, approximately 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, with the team departing by 1:30 PM. The board is asked to select the date and identify which board members will attend alongside district staff. Recommended action: Select the visit date and board attendees. |
