V.A.3. Quarterly Investment Report
Description:
Background: 
Chapter 2256, Government Code Public Funds Investment Act requires the district to provide a written investment report. 
The report contains operating funds not required by the code at the request of the school board.  The district maintains three investment pool accounts with nominal funds as a reference for comparisons only (Lone Star, Texas Class, and TexPool). The district places funds in investment accounts to assure safety and liquidity first and maximized yield next. 

Administrative Considerations: 
The Quarterly Investment Report. is provided by Mike Hall. 

Recommendation: 
Approve the Quarterly Investment Report, as presented.

Background: 
Rains ISD is a member of the Texas Association of School Boards and, as a part of our service agreement, we receive policy updates for our LEGAL and LOCAL policies periodically, which reflect changes in education law and rules.

(LEGAL) policies: Although LEGAL policies are not adopted by the board, TASB recommends that the board review them.

Description:
Background: 
The February Board Meeting is typically when Rains ISD has called the trustee election, based on the timelines set by the Office of Secretary of State.  The final deadline for ordering the election this year is Friday, February 14, 2025. 
 
Administrative Considerations:

Background: 
During the month of February, the Board considers administrator contract renewals. 

Administrative Considerations: 
An evaluation by the Superintendent is the basis for the administrators' contract recommendations.

Extend administrative contracts requiring Board signatures according to the list as presented.

Description:
Background: 
During the month of February, the Board receives a report of contract renewals for administrators that are employed by the Superintendent. 

Administrative Considerations:
Although the Superintendent is responsible for these contract renewals, the information is reported to the Board. 

Recommendation: 
The contract list is combined with VI.B. (contracts that require Board action).   Extend administrative contracts according to the list as presented.

TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE

Sec. 551.071. CONSULTATION WITH ATTORNEY; CLOSED MEETING. A governmental body may not conduct a private consultation with its attorney except:

(1) when the governmental body seeks the advice of its attorney about:

(A) pending or contemplated litigation; or

(B) a settlement offer; or

(2) on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with this chapter.
