The Tentative Fiscal Year 2026 Budget presents the school district’s preliminary financial plan for the upcoming year, outlining projected revenues, expenditures, and allocations across all programs and departments. It serves as a framework for discussion, public review, and eventual adoption. Key components include operational costs, staffing and benefits, instructional programs, capital improvements, and contingency funds. The tentative budget provides transparency and allows stakeholders, including the Board, staff, and community members, to understand the district’s financial priorities and ensure alignment with educational goals before final approval. The tentative budget has been posted (8/18/2025) and is available for review in the school office for 30 days prior to the Budget Hearing on September 18, 2025.

Meeting with Mayor Polk, Village attorney, Village surveyor and Greenprint engineer to discuss permanent easement for playground project. 

This agenda item seeks Board approval for all updates and revisions to the district’s approved Employee Handbook. The updates reflect changes in policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance with current laws, best practices, and district needs. Approval ensures that all employees have access to the most current guidelines regarding employment, benefits, conduct, and operational procedures.

The Board of Education will conduct the first reading of PRESS Policy Issue 119. This reading introduces the most recent policy updates and recommendations from the Illinois Association of School Boards’ Policy Reference Education Subscription Service (PRESS). The first reading provides Board members the opportunity to review and discuss proposed revisions and additions to district policies before final adoption at a subsequent meeting.

Motion to go into Closed Session at _____, pursuant to Section 2 (c) (1) (2) of the Open Meetings Act, for the purposes of consideration of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees and matters related to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. (ACTION REQUESTED after the closed session) *Secretary - please ensure that the closed session is being recorded.

Review and approval of staffing matters, including new hires, resignations, retirements, contract renewals, and other employment changes within the district.

This agenda item presents an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between South Cook Intermediate Service Center and Burnham Elementary School District 154.5 for the utilization of an Instructional Coach, Meghan Ward, for the Fiscal Year 2026 school year. The agreement outlines the terms of collaboration, including roles, responsibilities, and funding arrangements, to support instructional improvement and professional development within the district. Approval of this agreement allows the district to benefit from specialized coaching services to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

This item requests Board approval of an out-of-district tuition waiver for the children of all full-time employees of Burnham School District 154.5. The waiver would allow eligible employees to enroll their children in Burnham Elementary School without the payment of standard out-of-district tuition. This benefit recognizes the commitment of district employees, supports staff recruitment and retention, and fosters stronger connections between staff and the school community.

Notice of Budget Hearing and Approval

The Board of Education of Burnham Elementary School District 154.5 will hold a public hearing to approve the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at Burnham Elementary School.

The hearing provides an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the proposed final budget. A copy of the budget is available for inspection at the District Office.

All interested parties are invited to attend.
