D. Appoint President Pro Tem 
Description:
The School Board President Pro Tem is a board member elected or appointed to preside over school board meetings in the absence of the Board President. This individual assumes the duties of the president only when necessary and continues to serve as a regular board member at all other times.

Description:

1. Board President

Primary Role: The chief officer and leader of the board.
Key Duties:

  • Presides over board meetings and ensures orderly conduct.

  • Calls special meetings as needed.

  • Signs official documents on behalf of the board.

  • Acts as spokesperson for the board (unless otherwise delegated).

  • Works closely with the superintendent to set meeting agendas.

2. Vice President

Primary Role: Supports the president and assumes leadership when the president is absent.
Key Duties:

  • Presides over meetings in the absence of the president.

  • May assume other duties as assigned by the board.

  • Often involved in committee leadership or special projects.

3. Secretary

Primary Role: Oversees the documentation and official records of the board.
Key Duties:

  • Ensures minutes of board meetings are accurately recorded and maintained.

  • Signs official board documents as required.

  • May be responsible for board correspondence and maintaining records of policies and resolutions.
