Members of the Killingly community are encouraged to share their thoughts with the Board of Education and are invited to do so during this segment of the meeting. When appropriate to do so, members of the Board and the administration may respond to comments. However, in consideration of those in attendance and in an effort to proceed in a timely manner, follow-up discussion may need to take place outside of the meeting setting.

CABE"S Day on the Hill -  Wednesday, March 8, 2017, commencing at 8:30 a.m. Agenda- Legislative Leadership,  Proposed bills and mandates, Issue Briefings, Education Funding March, Visits with Legislators.

Held at the Bushnell, Auturino Great Hall, on Capitol Ave, Hartford. Free parking available.  DEADLINE IS March 3rd.  $30.00 per registrant, includes breakfast materials, instruction program.

Rationale:

Two textbooks have been identified for use in French (Title: Bon Voyage) and Spanish (Title: Buen Viaje) classes at KHS.  Both of these books have been reviewed and recommended by the Curriculum Sub-committee.  The textbooks currently being used are 14 years old. Newer textbooks will  broaden and strengthen comprehension, vocabulary and grammar.

 

One textbook titled: "National Geographic World Cultures and Geography" has been identified for use in 7th grade Social Studies. The current textbook is 17 years old and is obsolete.  It does not have up-to-date world maps showing border changes and current world issues. This book was reviewed and recommended by the Curriculum Sub-committee.
