KELLY DAVIDSON

2016-17 TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Kelly Davidson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and earned her Masters of Science in Special Education in 2004 and was hired as a teacher at Killingly Memorial School in 1999.

Kelly served as a grade five and grade six teacher at Killingly Intermediate School, provided guiding reading groups, curriculum support, facilitated professional development workshops while colleagues provided positive feedback for all workshop sessions.

Kelly is currently a dedicated Math Interventionist teacher at Killingly Memorial and Killingly Central Schools, who demonstrates commitment to her professional goals and goes the extra mile in working with her students, excelling in individual student instructional needs, time management and organization.

Kelly is a true hands-on practitioner whose mission as a math interventionist is to change the mindset of reluctant math learners by raising their confidence level, and encouraging students.  Kelly’s passion for children and teaching is evident in everything she does. She creates a safe environment where students truly become risk takers, and advocates for children with the willingness to take on leadership roles in the area of math, technology and data analysis.

Kelly Davidson is to be recognized for her exemplary service, extensive experience and excellent teaching skills and for the well-earned distinction and respect she has received from her students and peers as the 2016-17 Killingly Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

Kelly is commended for her devotion to her students, their families, the School District, and the community.

Kelly, along with other CT school districts' Teachers of the Year will be attending Connecticut's Teacher of Year Ceremony on November 10th at the Bushnell in Hartford.
