Description:
INFO: **The following notice is provided pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 2254.1036: The District is pursuing the issuance and sale of taxable and tax-exempt obligations and obtaining legal advice services related to outstanding obligations, and such matters are the subject of the proposed Contract with McCall, Parkhurst & Horton, LLP ("Outside Counsel"). In this regard, the District requires the representation of Outside Counsel for the purpose of providing legal representation to the District in the areas of Texas law relating to the issuance, sale, delivery, defeasance, and redemption of public securities and for achieving an efficient and lawful issuance, sale, delivery, defeasance and redemption of such municipal securities. Outside Counsel is a well-qualified law firm with more than 100 years of experience and has represented numerous entities similar to the District in matters relevant to the Contract.  Apart from obligations issued prior to 2010, the District has not engaged Outside Counsel for previous matters. The engagement of Outside Counsel is to commence upon the District’s execution of the engagement. The District cannot adequately perform the legal services with its in-house attorneys, if any, and supporting personnel of the District due to the state law complexity of which the District’s in-house attorneys and supporting personnel do not possess. The District has found that the attorneys or law firms in private practice with experience in the matters relevant to the Contract normally do not perform their legal services on an hourly basis; rather, such attorneys and law firms are engaged and are only paid to the extent such attorney or law firm successfully completes the matters relevant to the Contract on behalf of the District. It is in the best interest of the District to engage Outside Counsel on a contingency basis because the District wishes to preserve its right to forego the matters described in the Contract for any reason (financial, political or otherwise) at no expense to the District.

INFO: **Renewal for year two. During the 2022-2023 school year, SISD used Rethink Ed as the district comprehensive SEL/Mental Health program.  Rethink Ed encompasses all grades level PK-12 and includes classroom lessons for mandated state and local requirements to include suicide prevention, dating violence, human trafficking, cyber safety, trauma-informed care and bullying.  Rethink Ed is an SEL/Mental Health Program that includes the mandated state and local programs that align with the mandated Texas Positive Character Traits.  It also includes a wellness component that can be used by students, parents, faculty and staff.  The program is video based and can be integrated with Clever.
