Moving any funds over the 10% from the general fund to special revenue funds is common practice. TCSD has three special revenue funds Food Services, Computer Lab, and Deferred Maintenance and Safety fund.
This year the Governor under authority of the Emergency Declaration waived the maximum carryover requirement. Allowing districts to carry over all funds from FY20 to FY21. By moving the funds forward to FY21 it allows districts to use those funds to help with funds lost due to lower student enrollments as well as cover extra expenses to prevent COVID-19 spread. At the close of FY21 any unspent funds over the 10% threshold would be moved to special revenue funds. |
