1. Program Highlight - Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL)
Description:
Texas Instructional Leadership (TIL) is a program through which ESC, Region 20 provides training and support to district and campus leaders on their ability to build the capacity of the educators they lead.   TIL has several content areas intended to foster continuous improvement by helping district and campus administrators grow concrete instructional leadership skills in observation and feedback, data-driven instruction, student culture routines, and lesson alignment and formative assessment.  TIL trainings are aligned with many of the best practices described in the Effective Schools Framework (ESF) as well as the updated Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS).   TIL is among the approved vendors for schools seeking a technical assistance provider or capacity builder to support in the execution of a campus improvement plan. In addition to face-to-face professional development, TIL offers two additional training components.  Following professional development, an ESC 20 TIL Coach will observe participants implementing their new skills at their districts and provide additional tailored support to ensure those skills are applied successfully.   TIL utilizes the See It, Name It, Do It model of practice-based professional development.  Following implementation support visits, an ESC TIL Coach will coach district administrators on how to best guide principals toward successfully integrating the instructional leadership best practices at their campuses.   The ESC TIL Coach also provides one-to-one support to shape district practices and policies to make the work more sustainable.
