4.G. SB 546 School Bus Seat Belt Compliance Report
Description:

Administration has submitted the required report to the State of Texas regarding compliance with SB 546 and the three-point seat belt requirement for school buses.

At this time, all but two of Overton ISD’s buses are equipped with three-point seat belts and are fully compliant. The two buses that are not yet compliant are older units that are anticipated to age out of service prior to the September 1, 2029 compliance deadline.

Given current budget constraints, the district does not have the financial capacity to retrofit these two buses immediately. Administration will continue to monitor fleet replacement planning to ensure full compliance within the required timeline.
