Notice is hereby given that a SPECIAL CALLED MEETING of the Board of Trustees of the Banquete Independent School District will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 6:00 PM in the BoardRoom of the Banquete Administration Building, 4339 Fourth Street, Banquete, Texas 78339 at which time, the agenda items will be discussed.  In the course of the meeting, the board may change the order of business at its discretion without advance notice.

Description:

Budget Amendment #1 for the 2024-2025 fiscal year includes adjustments to the General Fund in the total amount of $140,000. The amendment allocates:

  • $50,000 for legal fees related to general matters and ACS litigation

  • $70,000 for flooring replacement in the Banquete Elementary office, Superintendent’s house, and clean up/demolition of garages.

  • $20,000 for football program equipment and supplies

This amendment addresses emergent needs not anticipated during the original budget adoption.

6. Public Participation
Description:
In accordance with board policy BED LOCAL, the Banquete ISD Board of Trustees welcomes comments from citizens on any agenda items or non-agenda items at any regular scheduled board meeting.  In the event of a special board meeting/board workshop, public comments will be limited to agenda items only. Those wishing to address the school board must provide their name for the record and observe a three-minute time limit. During this time, the Board of Trustees may not respond to the citizens' concerns as per the Texas Open Meetings Act.

Description:
To deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee, including but not limited to personnel recommendations from the Superintendent

Description:
To consult with the District’s legal counsel regarding pending or contemplated litigation, a settlement offer, or a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the District under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct conflicts with the Texas Open Meetings Act.

This consultation may be conducted via telephone or video conference in accordance with § 551.129 of the Texas Government Code.
