FISCAL FUND IMPACT: ESSR II Funds - IMPACT AMOUNT: $48,900

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY/BACKGROUND:

The Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) is a program to assist districts with providing staff and students mobile devices to allow for remote instruction.  This program will provide the district up to $400/device to meet this need.  Madison District Public Schools applied for 500 chromebooks for students and 100 laptops for instructional staff.  Currently instructional staff have outdated desktop computers that are beyond their end of useful life and need to be replaced.  The 100 laptops will be used to meet this need.  Currently students have chromebooks to use for instructional purposes.  The 500 chromebooks will be used to meet the needs of those students who don’t have access to a device or have one that is outdated.

COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

The ECF program will cover the complete cost of the 500 chromebooks and $40,000 of the cost of the laptops.  The total cost of this project that will be covered by the ECF program is $187,900.  The district would only be responsible for $48,900.
