7.B. Potential Demolition of 130 Field Drive
Description:

The upcoming Board of Education meeting will include a critical discussion regarding the potential demolition of a four-plex unit located at 130 Field Drive. The building's current state poses challenges, as it requires substantial upgrades to meet code requirements for a public dwelling. These include the installation of an elevator, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, and dual entry and exit routes, which would entail significant expenses beyond the district's budget.

Gunderson Excavating has provided a quote for the complete removal of the structure at a total cost of $26,800. This expense would be covered by pooling resources from various budgets along with any end-of-year dollars remaining.

The meeting will also consider alternative actions should the demolition not proceed. In such a case, additional measures must be taken to secure the building, including repairs to the roof and windows, to maintain safety and structural integrity.

Board members will discuss the pros and cons of the proposed demolition and determine the most feasible option for the district. Their decision will aim to align with the district's financial resources, safety standards, and overall strategic goals.
