Description:
Nobody has formally requested to address the Board. However, there has not been time to do so because of the Special Meeting called. Only the topics on the agenda can be addressed by visitors wishing to comment if there are any.

IV.A. Closed Session for Purpose of Discussing (9) Student disciplinary cases

Description:
*****Anytime school personnel or individual student issues are discussed, the discussion needs to take place in Closed Session, with action only coming in Open Session.
This Closed Session is for an expulsion hearing where I am recommending that Preston Nanninga be expelled from school for 2 years, while authorizing the student to attend and completes 6 courses per semester of work with passing grades until the student graduates from high school. My letter to Delores Nanninga is attached and she and I have had multiple conversations in the past few weeks. Also attached is written correspondence from our attorney addressing this matter. |

RECOMMENDATION: To expel student that was subject of the discipline hearing for 2 years, authorizing the administration to offer alternative school of passing 6 semester hours of credit each semester until the student graduates from Annawan High School.

You all have received Mr. Buresh's letter of retirement for Superintendent and High School Principal (all TRS duties) effective June 30, 2017. The purpose for going into Closed Session is to listen to Board President John Rosenberry explain the legalities and options for the 2017-2018 school year for replacing Mr. Buresh in these positions. Another copy of Mr. Buresh's retirement resignation letter is attached. |
