Description:
The attached list of requisitions are items that buildings or departments would like to purchase for their upcoming needs.  The requisitions have gone through all the appropriate approval processes and have been approved by administration for purchase. In addition, there are funds available to make these purchases.  Once the requisitions are approved they will be processed and purchase orders will be sent out.

The attached Confirming Purchase Orders are items that needed to be processed prior to the board approval.  The purchases consisted of mulch for the elementary playgrounds.

4.a.3) Award RFB 19-003 Swing Gates

Description:
Crestwood Administration has reviewed the proposals submitted for the Swing Gates and will be recommending Nationwide Construction Group for the project.  The project will install gates at all schools, limiting outside traffic after hours.    The proposal submitted met or exceeded all the specifications stated in the RFB.   Nationwide has done work with numerous school districts across Michigan and are highly recommended.

Crestwood Administration has reviewed the proposals submitted for district wide copiers and will be recommending UTEC.  The proposal submitted met or exceeded all the specifications stated in the RFB.  The district has had a longstanding working relationship with UTEC, providing copier services for the past 11 years.  The company has provided quality service to the district during that time, with quick turnaround on service.

Crestwood Administration has reviewed the proposals submitted for district wide camera installation and will be recommending ROK.  The proposal submitted met or exceeded all the specifications stated in the RFB.  ROK is an authorized reseller of the products we require.  They are proficient in installation and support of cameras, servers and software. The district has worked with ROK to install and support our existing video surveillance systems.  I have attached the initial bid comparison worksheet.

4.a.6) Approval of Michigan Rehabilitation Services Contract

Description:
The Crestwood School District has been working over the past several years with MRS.   The partnership improves access to vocational rehabilitation (VR) services for students with disabilities in  secondary education who are interested in becoming employed upon high school completion.   This program will enhance the delivery of Transition VR services to the target population.  MRS and school staff will collaborate on VR services and supports which promote successful employment/career outcomes.  Students will access a community internship which allows them to transfer the skills learned in the classroom directly to real life work environments and work experiences.  The internship will create real work opportunities for students which contribute to the resume building and employment skill development.   Students will acquire the required soft skill development to effectively transition from school to work.  Total cost to the district will be $15,000

Mr. Berner earned his Bachelor Degree from University of Wisconsin.  He has taught Education Technology and Business Education for 11 years in Wisconsin and Alaska.

Mr. Wynn earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and Business Management from Eastern Michigan University and his Master of Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University.  He has 7 years experience teaching Marketing,  Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Business Law, Financial Literacy, US History I & II and Retail Operations.  In addition to his teaching experience, Mr. Wynn has 14 years of experience in the wireless communications industry in the roles of management and marketing.

Ms. Salemassi earned her Masters Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL) from Madonna University.  She is currently in the process of completing her Ed.D. of Curriculum and Practice and a specialization in second language acquisition from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  In her capacity as World Languages Program Director at Madonna University, she had revised the Spanish curriculum, including developing several new courses and re-writing existing courses’ learning objectives and descriptions aligned with ACTFL/CAEP Standards for the Preparation of Foreign Languages Teachers and ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines (2013) and aligned with Quality Matters standards.

Ms. Hespen earned her Bachelor Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University.    She has 3 years of teaching experience.  She has also served as a Technology Ambassador during virtual learning and supported the Benchmark Reading Curriculum and Eureka Math Curriculum.  Ms. Hespen comes from a family of educators and has grown up in a classroom assisting her mother with making classrooms a bright, warm, and welcoming place for students.

Ms. Salame earned her Masters of Arts, Teaching English As A Second Language from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, Early Childhood Education.  Ms.Salame works to utilize texture, integrated technology, and various strategies in order to diversify her instruction and support the development of young learners.  She has increased ESL students' reading levels by integrating online word games and altering lesson plans for students needing extra guidance. Ms. Salame strives to work with all stakeholders to create an effective and culturally-sensitive learning environment.

Ms. Salem earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Rochester College.  She has worked as a camp counselor, volunteer coach for cross country, and tutor.  She has experience working with SmartBoard technology in order to enhance instruction and her focus is to pace lessons and create activities to keep students highly engaged.

Ms. Kaffarani earned her Bachelor Degree in Medical Case Management from Davenport University.  While working with EduStaff she has followed lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. She prides herself on managing her classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.

Ms. Abuhadma earned her CDA in Preschool from Henry Ford Community College.  She has 3 years of experience monitoring the progress and development of students and providing information to parents. She encourages students to actively play and explore the world around them and she likes to focus on planning and providing a variety of hands-on activities to improve critical thinking skills. Ms. Abuhadma hopes to create an enthusiastic environment and make learning a happy journey for children.

Ms. Aljashee  had worked at Star International Academy as a hall monitor for 3 years. She has also been dedicated to the Crestwood District serving as a lunch aid as she continued to work during COVID-19 in the food services department.  Ms. Aljashee looks forward to her new role in the Food Service Department.

Ms. Khalil has a passion for culinary arts and prides herself on making delicious homemade jams.  She loves working with children and has 3 students that have attended Highview Elementary.

Mr. Singleton has 3 years experience as a custodian at Walmart and 5 years of experience working for Southfield Public Schools.  He is knowledgeable of the importance of maintaining the safety cleaning requirements and is experienced in summer cleaning, and setting up rooms for events at schools.

Mr. Guri has 10 years custodial experience and  worked at the University of Michigan in Dearborn as a day porter. He was responsible for custodial needs in his assigned building, he is very detail oriented.

Ms. Trionfi has 4 years experience working at Joe Randazzo's.  Her responsibilities at the end of day were to clean the registers and to clean the main office. She is a Crestwood graduate and excited about being a part of the Crestwood team.

Mr. Young has 9 years of custodial experience with school districts.  He is knowledgeable of the requirements to  maintain school buildings.  He has also maintained football and baseball fields.  Mr. Young possesses the knowledge to run, maintain and operate Zero turn mowers, weed whips, blowers, stump grinder, snow plows, Irrigation repairs for sprinklers, drip systems, tractors.

Ms. Bacharouche is currently working for Crestwood School District as a Substitute Paraprofessional and prior to that, she served as a lunch monitor for our district as well.   She has one on one experience with special needs students and has assisted teachers with several day to day activities and assignments.

Ms. Elward earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and her Masters in ESL from Wayne State University.  She has 9 years of teaching experience and maintains a strong focus on differentiating instruction for students at all levels and incorporating technology into her instruction.  Ms. Elward has participated in before and afterschool tutoring and has a strong grasp on analyzing assessments to drive instruction and uses Depth of Knowledge frameworks as the foundation for lesson planning and instruction.

Ms. Nasser earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Social Work from Wayne State University.  She has 10 years of experience as a school social worker and has also held positions as a behavior technician and mental health therapist.  She has served as a McKinney-Vento liaison assisting homeless families in need and has facilitated a number o school programs including Restorative Practices and community service to assist students in improving their academic achievement through the their social emotional development.

Ms. Korotny earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wayne State University and her Masters in Social Work from Grand Valley State University.  She has five years of experience in the field of Social Work.  She has worked on multi-disciplinary teams in order to identify and define service plans to best meet the needs of adults and children in need of social work services.  She is excited about her transition from a clinical to an educational setting and looks forward to utilizing her knowledge and experience to support students in their social, emotional, and academic achievement.

We were notified by the MEA Uniserv representative that the Crestwood Custodial and Maintenance Association voted in favor of ratification of the three year agreement.  Thank you to all members of the bargaining team of the Custodial and Maintenance team and the administration for their efforts at the negotiating table.

We were notified on August 18, 2021 by Ms. Kim Raby that the Crestwood Federation of Paraprofessionals unanimously approved the three year agreement.  We want to thank the paraprofessional negotiating committee and administration for their efforts at the bargaining table.

We were informed by the Food Service Employees that their members had voted in favor of ratification of the three year bargaining agreement.  Our sincere thanks goes to the negotiating committee and the administration for working to rebuild this bargaining agreement in the best interest of the employees in this group.
