2.A. Superintendent's Report

Description:

1.  ESSER Funding:  We have applied for the remaining grants for ESSER III funding.  We are awaiting approval.  This process has been a long process and we have had to adjust our applications to meet approval on previous grants.  This program requires a completed and approved application at the state level, expenditure from the school district, and then reimbursement from the state that aligns to the approved budget.

2.  Survey for Vaccines for ages 5-11:  We are working with Sherburne County Public Health to ensure those who wish to have a vaccine are able to receive one in a timely manner.  While we may have a vaccine clinic at the school, we continue to encourage everyone to work with their child's pediatrician about the vaccine.  The vaccine is not a requirement for schools.

3.  We continue to have shortages for positions.  Some positions we have open now include:
3.25 Hours Paraprofessional-IS
PS - para IS - Para HS - Para Sped driver
2 bus drivers-FT
Middle School Food Service Worker
Field House Supervisor

We also have a shortage of substitutes in food service, transportation, teaching, and other areas.  These have affected our organization in a variety of ways, particularly in classrooms and in transportation.  If you have any availability or interest, please reach out to the district office to learn more.

4.  Update from MN Family Council

5.  MSBA Guidance for Supporting Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Studentshttps://mnmsba.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/AdministrativeGuidelines-10-26-2021.pdf

6.  MSBA Leadership Conference on January 13-14, 2022.  Will take place in person at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

7.  Federal Vaccination Standard from OSHA.  The Emergency Temporary Standard would apply to districts with 100-plus employees.  OSHA is drafting a rule that requires all employees with over 100 employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require a negative test at least weekly.  There has not been a formal announcement and therefore, this is not required, however, this may be something we will need to discuss as more information becomes available.

8.  Issues with Patriot Newspaper policy update.

9.  Congratulations to our Support Staff who won the Leadership in Educational Excellence Award.  The following will be recognized at a regional meeting on November 17th.

Description:
Policies 470 and 524 were tabled during the October meeting pending more information from MSBA who did not issue new policy language, but instead offered new guidelines that align to these policies as well as other policies already required to be in place.

Policy 534 is a required policy for anyone who participates in the National Food Service Lunch Program for Food Service with new updates from MSBA to align with current statute.
