3.A. October is AAC Awareness Month. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a term used to describe various communication methods that support or replace verbal speech. Park View Elementary School students, Marcus Castaneda-Wolver, Jack Egan, Julia Jham, Grace Lafser and Sophia Ploskanka and staff will discuss and show how AAC tools are used in the classroom, on the playground, and among peers.
3.B. October celebrates National Principals Month. District 89 recognizes that principals love what they do and enjoy the many opportunities to share in the learning journey of the children in their school. We honor the work and commitment of our outstanding principals: Mitch Dubinsky, Kristie Mate, Dawn McCray, Brett McPherson, Kristen Ulery and assistant principal Sammy Smith.

7.A. Report on Buildings' School Improvement Plans (BOE Goals:  Changing financial needs and collaborative and inclusive culture). An overview of buildings' school improvement plans will be presented. Each principal will highlight one aspect of their school improvement plan.

The Board will review the 2024 Resolutions Committee Report, which will be discussed during the IASB's Delegate Assembly at the Joint Annual IASB/IASA/IASBO Conference, on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

7.C. Enrollment/Registration discussion (BOE Goal: Continuous improvement)In preparation for registration for the 2025-2026 school year, Superintendent Eccarius and the Board of Education will discuss our current practices and potentially adjust our procedures.
