Description:
The Board of Education will recognize the dedicated service to the students of Pleasantdale by Lisa Houk and Beth Tegtmeier for their service on the Board from 2007 to 2015.
Description:
Based on the official election returns, the Board will need to proclaim the successful candidates as members of the Board of Education.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education proclaims the following results of the April 7, 2015 election:
elected to two-year term: Gina Scaletta-Nelson; and elected to four-year term: Vipul Dedhia, David Negron, and Michael Rak.
Description:
Oath of Office
Mark Mirabile, presiding officer of the Board, will swear in newly elected Board members Vipul Dedhia, David Negron, Gina Scaletta-Nelson, and Michael Rak. The oath of office is as follows:

I, (name), do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of member of the Board of Education of Pleasantdale School District 107, in accordance with the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and the laws of the State of Illinois, to the best of my ability.

I further swear that:

I shall respect taxpayer interests by serving as a faithful protector of the School District’s assets;

I shall encourage and respect the free expression of opinion by my fellow Board members and others who seek a hearing before the Board, while respecting the privacy of students and employees;

I shall recognize that a Board member has no legal authority as an individual and that decisions can be made only by a majority vote at a public Board meeting; and

I shall abide by majority decisions of the Board, while retaining the right to seek changes in such decisions through ethical and constructive channels.
Description:
The Board will need to appoint a Secretary Pro Tem to conduct the Organizational Meeting until the Board President is seated.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education appoint __________ as Secretary Pro Tem to conduct the Organizational Meeting until the Board President is elected.
Description:
To facilitate this portion of the agenda, Board policy 2.110 outlining the duties of Board officers is attached.

This office is for a one-year term, May 2015 through May 2016.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education elect ___________________ as President effective May 2015 through May 2016.
Description:
This office is for a one-year term, May 2015 through May 2016.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education elect _________________ as Vice President effective May 2015 through May 2016.
Description:
Although this office can be a paid position, the Pleasantdale District 107 Board Secretary has traditionally served without pay. This office is for a one-year term, May 2015 through May 2016.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education elect _____________ as Board Secretary without pay effective May 2015 through May 2016.
Description:
Erika Sawosko has held this paid position since 2007.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education appoint Erika Sawosko as Recording Secretary with pay effective May 2015 through May 2016.
Description:
I recommend continuing holding regular meetings at 7:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the Board room located in the administration building. Thirty calendar days are necessary between the August and September meetings to allow for the legally required 30 day review of the tentative budget.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education schedule regular meetings of the Board of Education on the Third Wednesday of the month, with the exception of August, at 7:00 p.m. in the administration building Board room and that the meeting schedule be published.
Description:
As an active member of the Illinois Association of School Boards, District 107 has traditionally appointed a representative to serve this two-year position.

Recommendation:
That the Board of Education appoint _________________ as IASB Board Representative from May 2015 through May 2017.
