BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride."  The persons being recognized this month are as follows:

AAHS band students Carter Olson and Carter Gamm were selected to represent Alexandria in the Central Lakes Conference Honor Jazz Band.

Athletes recognized this past month as Central Lakes Conference Performers of the Week in their respective sport include:
  • Hannah Hoff - Girls Swim & Dive: placed 1st in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke

Hannah Hoff took 2nd place in the 100 yard backstroke at the CLC Section 8AA Championship and earned a trip to the State Swim & Dive Meet.

Both the Boys Cross Country Team and the Girls Cross Country Team were runners up at Sections and earned a trip to the State Cross Country Meet, where they each received the Academic Gold State Award. The Girls Team placed 7th at State, while the Boys Team placed 16th.

Cross Country All-State Honors were awarded to Matty Soderholm, Jakin Miller, Cedric Soderholm, Citori Halbe and Quinn Hills.

The Girls Tennis Team took 6th place at the State Tennis Tournament and earned the Academic Gold State Award.

Addison Stevenson and Kennedy Stevenson placed 6th at State in Individual Doubles Girls Tennis.

Individual tennis honors include:
  • CLC All-Conference Honors: Kennedy Stevenson, Bentley Kriel and Addison Stevenson
  • CLC Honorable Mention: Samantha Whaley, Lily Eken and Lucy Witte
  • Academic All-State: Cadence Simon and Hope Stark

Boys Soccer saw a number of honors as well, including:
  • Patrick Klecker was named to the 1st Team, All-State Boys Soccer by MSHSSCA
  • Earning All-Conference Honors: Ethan Carlson, Camden Kosters, Julian Ramos and Patrick Klecker
  • Earning All-Conference Honorable Mention: Francisco Rodriguez, Auden Zeller and Beau Jones

The Football Team became the Section 5A Champions and advanced to the State Tournament.

Evan Zabel and Jack Morrissette have been selected for the All-Star Football game.

Individual football honors went to:
  • All-North Star District Honors: Jack Morrissette, Evan Zabel, Talan Witt, Thomas Hinrichs, Mason Witt and Brody Berg
  • All-North Star District Honorable Mention: Blake Scholl, Brendan Behrens, Brett Meyer, Aidan Schneiderhan, Spencer Kleindl, Adrian Miles, Jackson Waltzing and Connor Wang
  • North Star District Players of the Year:
    • Offensive Player of the Year: Talan Witt
    • Defensive Player of the Year: Jack Morrissette
    • Quarterback of the Year: Talan Witt
    • Wide Receiver of the Year: Thomas Hinrichs
    • Offensive Lineman of the Year: Evan Zabel
    • Defensive Lineman of the Year: Jack Morrissette

Ty Granning was named North Star District Assistant Football Coach of the Year.

IV.B. APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS FOR OCTOBER 2025

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Because of the many year-end accounting adjustments and entries that need to be made, the financial reports for October 2025 will be presented when the number accurately reflects fiscal year 2025-2026 activities.

The listing of bills for payment is the last attachment to this agenda.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the payment of bills for October 2025.

IV.C. APPROVE PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Personnel recommendations are made monthly. The conditional offers of employment are subject to successful completion of a criminal background check and I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, and where applicable, the issuance of the required license.

The administration recommends the board approve the personnel recommendations as presented on the following pages.

IV.D. APPROVE SUBMISSION OF GRANT APPLICATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The administration recommends that the school board approve the submission of the following:
 
  • Grant application to Cardboard Cares for $500 to help purchase glazes to provide more consistent and accurate supplies for students to experiment with in the Introduction to Pottery and Sculpture classes at AAHS.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the school board approve the resolution to submit the grant applications and donation requests.

IV.E. ADOPT RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DONATIONS AND GRANTS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As per district policy, the board is required to approve the submission and acceptance of donations and grants to the district that exceed $1,000.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the school board approve the attached resolution accepting grants and donations to the school district.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As per district policy, the board is required to approve all extended field trips that involve one or more overnight stays.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends that the school board approve the following extended field trips:
  • The Robitics Team is requesting permission to travel to Brainerd, MN on October 24-25, 2025 to participate in the NMRC Conference Championship and Open Competition.

The following pages provide suggested policy additions or policy revisions for first reading.  Administration will review the policies at the meeting.

  • Policy 424 - License Status

  • Policy 427 - Workload Limits for Certain Special Education Teachers
  • Policy 430 - Student Teacher and Intern Supervision

The Curriculum/Policy Committee reviewed the policies at their committee meeting and supports the additions and revisions.

Annually, the school board approves educational agreements between the District and various consultants, agencies and service providers.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the following agreement:
  • Post Secondary Enrollment Options Contract between Minnesota State Community and Technical College and Alexandria Public Schools beginning July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026
  • Data Sharing Agreement between Horizon Public Health and Alexandria Public Schools
  • Student and Teacher Engagement Agreement between Dr. Corey Yeager & Tyrone Abington and Alexandria Public Schools beginning September 2025 through May 2026

VI.A. ACCEPT COMPREHENSIVE ACHIEVEMENT AND CIVIC READINESS SUMMARY

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Trish Perry will provide an overview of the 2024-2025 Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness Report Summary.  Under Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.11, school districts are to develop a Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness Annual Report and report summary for each school year. 


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board accept the 2024-2025 Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness Report Summary as presented.

VI.B. APPROVE FIRST READING OF 2026-2027 AAHS CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM MODIFICATIONS

VI.D. ADOPT RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING COMBINED POLLING PLACES

Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Amendments to Minnesota Statutes Section 205A.11 require school boards to annually designate, by resolution, any changes to combined polling places for stand-alone school district elections.  The locations of these combined polling places have also been limited to those locations designated for use as a polling place by a county or a municipality.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board adopt the resolution combining polling places for multiple precincts and designating hours during which the polling places will remain open for voting for school district elections not held on the day of the statewide election.
