BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride."  The persons being recognized this month are as follows:

Many of our spring athletes have earned All-Conference Honors in their respective sport, including:
  • Boys Golf: Jack Holtz, Will Thornburg and Bennett Hagen-Olsen
  • Girls Golf: Ellie Sticha, Rachel Bowen and Cadence Simon
  • Baseball: Jordan Kuhnau, Samuel Anderson, Boone Branson, Carter Simonson and Cameron Simon
  • Softball: Peyton Goetsch, Addy Johnson and Ava Klimek
  • Boys Tennis: Owen Gilbertson, Cole Haabala and Niklas Cook
In addition, the following athletes received All-Conference Honorable Mention:
  • Girls Golf: Lexi Metcalf
  • Baseball: Brody Adelman, Gavin Klimek, Landon Gess-Norling and Brady Swendsrud
  • Boys Tennis: Charlie Johnston, Lucas Fernholz and Owen Godfrey

Our Boys Golf Team took 5th place at the State Golf Meet, and the Girls Golf Team took 4th place.

At the State Track & Field Meet, the Girls Track Team took home the title of State Track Champions, while the Boys Track Team tied for 4th place. Individual results in the girls division include:
  • Elise Magaard - State Champion in the discus and 7th place in the shot put
  • Alison Krasky - 5th place in the 400m and 8th place in the triple jump
  • Jaelyn Miller - 3rd place in the 800m and 6th place in the 1600m
  • Sophia Korynta - 8th place in the 300m hurdles
  • Payten Kor, Alison Krasky, Kaia Emter and Kaija Schneider - 7th place in the 4x200m relay
  • Alison Krasky, Greta Oldenkamp, Kasey Soderholm and Jaelyn Miller - 4th place in the 4x400m relay
  • Kasey Soderholm, Greta Oldenkamp, Bobbi Nichols and Citori Halbe - 3rd place in the 4x800m relay
  • Zoie Roemer - 11th place in the pole vault
  • Lydia Oldenkamp - 2nd place in the shot put
In the boys division:
  • Otto Anderson - 7th place in the 110m hurdles, 2nd place in the 300m hurdles and 9th place in the high jump
  • Trey Negen, Evan Kludt, Mac Heydt and Dane Olson - 2nd place in the 4x100m relay and 3rd place in the 4x200m relay
  • Otto Anderson, Hunter Mohr, Throck Lehmann and Owen Draper - 4th place in the 4x400m relay
  • Evan Kludt - 7th place in the long jump

The Marching Band took 2nd place in the Class A division at the Buffalo Days Parade.

The following pages provide a copy of the minutes from the June 17, 2024 regular board meeting.
 

RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the minutes as printed.

IV.B. APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS FOR JUNE 2024

Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Because of the many year-end accounting adjustments and entries that need to be made, the financial reports for June 2024 will be presented when the number accurately reflects fiscal year 2023-2024 activities.

The listing of bills for payment is the last attachment to this agenda.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the payment of bills for June 2024.

IV.C. APPROVE PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS
Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Personnel recommendations are made monthly. The conditional offers of employment are subject to successful completion of a criminal background check and I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, and where applicable, the issuance of the required license.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the personnel recommendations as presented on the following pages.

IV.D. APPROVE SUBMISSION OF GRANT APPLICATIONS

Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The administration recommends that the school board approve the submission of the following:
 
  • Grant application to the US Department of Education for an amount to be determined by USDE to grow career awareness in elementary schools about health care careers in rural areas.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the school board approve the resolution to submit the grant applications and donation requests.

IV.E. ADOPT RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DONATIONS AND GRANTS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As per district policy, the board is required to approve the submission and acceptance of donations and grants to the district that exceed $1,000.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the school board approve the attached resolution accepting grants and donations to the school district.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As per district policy, the board is required to approve all fundraising activities.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration is recommending that the school board approve the following fundraiser:
  • The football team will sell Cardinal Cards to pay for transportation upgrades, t-shirts, equipment and meals for the team.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Pursuant to Policy 208, Article IV.D., a policy that is modified because of a legal change over which the school board has no control may be approved at one meeting at the discretion of the school board. The following policies contain legal revisions reflective of laws enacted in the 2024 Minnesota Legislative Session:

Annually, the school board approves educational agreements between the District and various consultants, agencies and service providers.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the following agreements:
  • Lease Agreement between WCMCA, Inc. Head Start and Alexandria Public Schools beginning July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025
  • PSEO Contract between MState and Alexandria Public Schools for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • College in the Schools/Concurrent Enrollment Agreement between Central Lakes College and Alexandria Public Schools beginning July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025

VI.A. APPROVE LONG-TERM MAINTENANCE REVENUE

Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Minnesota school districts applying for Long-Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) revenue must submit an annual application to the Minnesota Department of Education.  Completed applications include submitting a statement of assurances, as well as the LTFM revenue projection and estimated expenditures for a 10-year period.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the LTFM revenue application as presented.
