Mallory Stuckey, a sophomore at Rison High School, has been named Miss Natural State's Teen. For the past three years, Mallory has been working on her Community Service Initiative, Love the Skin You're In: Melanoma Prevention & Awareness. Her goal is to educate Arkansans, specifically Arkansas students, on sun safety and skin cancer prevention. In June 2024, Ms Stuckey will compete for the title of Miss Arkansas' Teen.

Description:
Ark. Code Ann. § 6-17-309 requires local school districts to secure a waiver when classrooms are staffed with unlicensed teachers for longer than 30 days. Requests were received from 17 school districts for a total of 21 waivers. There were also requests for long-term substitutes from 27 school districts requesting a total of 96 waivers for long-term substitutes. These requests have been reviewed, were either approved or denied by DESE staff, and are consistent with program guidelines.

Code Ann.  § 25-16-904, which allows the State Board of Education to annually authorize "a stipend not to exceed eighty-five dollars ($85.00) per day for each meeting, examination, evaluation, or inspection attended or for any day while performing any proper business of the board....", this item is on the agenda for the board to approve the maximum daily stipend for 2024.
