IV. Public Comment
Rationale:
The Board of Education welcomes public participation and values the diverse perspectives, questions, and concerns of our community. The Board has a responsibility to provide a respectful, orderly, and equitable forum where all members of the community have a meaningful opportunity to be heard. Comments should be directed to the Board and focus on matters of public concern. Disagreement and criticism is welcome, and the board requires that all speakers respect the legal privacy and dignity of our students and employees. Concerns or allegations involving identifiable individuals should be addressed through appropriate district channels rather than through public comment. Personal attacks, intimidation, harassment, or disruptive conduct interfere with the purpose of this forum. The Chair may intervene, pause, or end comments when necessary to preserve an orderly and respectful environment. Speakers must state their name and address for the record, and limit comments to 5 minutes. The Board will not engage in dialogue or respond during public comment; however, matters raised may be considered for follow-up or placed on a future agenda in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. |
