6.B. Delegate full hiring authority to the Superintendent from April 17, 2026 — August 31, 2026.
Presenter:
Dr. Jessica Gore
Description:

Starting this delegation on April 17, rather than May 1 as in prior years, better aligns with the realities of today’s hiring landscape. We are entering the peak of hiring season, when high-quality candidates are actively seeking and securing positions. While we have relatively few vacancies, the candidates we are pursuing are often considering multiple districts at the same time. This earlier start allows us to move with urgency and secure strong candidates before they accept offers elsewhere.

As outlined in policy, the Superintendent has sole authority to make recommendations to the Board regarding the selection of contractual personnel. Delegating the Board’s hiring authority during this defined window allows the Superintendent to act on those recommendations efficiently throughout the hiring season and busy summer months. The Board has supported this approach consistently, granting this authority for the past eight years.

This shift is about responsiveness, not reducing transparency. We will continue to share candidate names and relevant information with the Board throughout this period. The difference is that we will not be delayed by the typical 3-4 week gap between board meetings, which can result in losing highly qualified applicants.

Ultimately, this approach ensures Snyder ISD remains competitive, hires proactively, and secures the strongest possible staff for the 2026-2027 school year.
