Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride."  The persons being recognized this month are as follows:

Four teams of 5th graders placed in the top ten at the regional Math Masters competition in April:
  • 1st place: Kenzie Morrissey, Shelby Backlund, Henry Bluett, Jack Carpenter and Jacob Provance (Voyager)
  • 2nd place: Whittier Patterson, Reese Oberg, Ian Momsen, Oliver Goergen and Riaden Luedeke (Miltona)
  • 7th place: Nate Amundson, Stella Swart, Micaiah Thul, Gunnar Mitteness and Elijah Larson (Voyager)
  • 8th place: Drake Enghauser, Ameiah Sheridan, Brynn Erickson, Owen Buerkley and Kasie Thesing (Carlos)

Seventh graders Addie Miller and Britton Peper won first place in the MN Student Digital Mapping Competition with their solar panel project.

Sophia Nohre was chosen to be one of two student speakers at the Charting the C’s Conference 2026. She presented "Unbreakable Spirits, Breakable Bones: Understanding Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) in the Classroom" to educators, staff and families supporting students with low-incidence disabilities.

Jolene Katchmark, paraprofessional at Lincoln Elementary, was named a 2026 recipient of the Recognizing Excellence in Classified Employees (REACH) Award. She is being recognized for the excellence she demonstrates in her role to make a meaningful impact in her school and community.

The AAHS Jazz Ensemble received a Superior Rating at the regional contest in April.

MMEA has selected three AAHS students to be All-State Musicians this year:
  • Carter Gamm - trumpet
  • Alex Rodriguez - violin
  • Natalie Travis - French horn

Athletes recognized this past month as Central Lakes Conference Performers of the Week in their respective sport include:
  • Ellie Sticha - Girls Golf: shot 75 at Cold Spring in her first outing this year
  • Jackson Waltzing - Baseball: threw a perfect game - 7 innings, 64 pitches, 47 strikes, 8 strikeouts, 0 walks and 0 hits
  • Weston Nyberg - Boys Golf: medaled at two of three meets in one week
  • Kaiya Chapin - Girls Golf: shot a personal best of 81 at Greystone

In Archery, Aubri Miller qualified to shoot in the 2026 Western National Archery Tournament at the Mountain America Center in Sandy, UT. She shot a score of 280 and placed 52nd in the high school girls division and 72nd out of the total of 1,115 girls.

The Wresting Team was recognized as the Section 8AA Academic Champions and as the Academic Gold Team by the MWCA.

Senior wrestler Nolan Fettig broke the all-time career wins record with a phenomenal 177 wins.

Robotics Coach, Jennifer Engle, has been selected to present about FIRST Robotics at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) - MN’s inaugural "Women in Engineering: Built to Lead" event.

Adrian Miles threw a 60 ft, 5.25 in throw, breaking not only a meet record, but also the school record. Adrian also set a new school record in the discus, breaking his own school record in the process.

DECA students returned from the ICDC conference with many placing in the top 18:
  • 2nd place - Project Management Community Awareness: Lennon Justice, Ava Anderson and Erin Cross
  • 3rd place - Sports & Entertainment Operations Research: Lilly Dutton, Jacob Loween and Campbell Jenzen
  • Top 10 - Business Operations Research: Nik Schultz, Julian Ramos and Miles Breitzman

IV.C. APPROVE PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Personnel recommendations are made monthly. The conditional offers of employment are subject to successful completion of a criminal background check and I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, and where applicable, the issuance of the required license.

The administration recommends the board approve the personnel recommendations as presented on the following pages.

IV.D. APPROVE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR PRINCIPALS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

A tentative agreement was reached to add the following MOU to the Work Agreement between the District and Principals:
 
  • To approve modifications to the Work Agreement to define the terms and conditions governing Paid Time Off (PTO) payout for eligible Principals upon separation of employment.

The administration and the Personnel/Negotiations Committee are supportive of the agreement.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the MOU as presented.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Terms & Conditions have been finalized between the District and the following employee groups:
 
  • Confidential (2025-2027)
  • Unaffiliated (2025-2027)

The administration and the Personnel/Negotiations Committee are supportive of the agreements.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the Terms & Conditions as presented.

IV.F. APPROVE SUBMISSION OF GRANT APPLICATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The administration recommends that the school board approve the submission of the following:
 
  • Grant application to Alexandria Education Foundation for $20,000 to fund initiatives across the district that ignite passion, unlock potential and foster engagement for all learners and staff within the district.
  • Grant application to the Douglas Foundation - Douglas Machine to help with the cost of transportation for sophomore students traveling to post-secondary institutions in the Fargo, Moorhead and Wahpeton areas.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the school board approve the resolution to submit the grant applications and donation requests.

IV.G. ADOPT RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DONATIONS AND GRANTS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As per district policy, the board is required to approve the submission and acceptance of donations and grants to the district that exceed $1,000.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the school board approve the attached resolution accepting grants and donations to the school district.

IV.H. APPROVE FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As per district policy, the board is required to approve all fundraising activities.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration is recommending that the school board approve the following fundraiser:
  • The Speech Team will directly approach individuals and businesses with sponsor requests to raise money to offset costs related to participation in the NIETOC national speech tournament.
  • The AAHS music students will solicit donations from friends and family to help raise funds for field trips, guest artists and other student-centered opportunities.
  • The Girls Volleyball Team will host an adult grass volleyball league throughout the summer to raise money to purchase team equipment and jerseys.

The following pages provide suggested policy additions or policy revisions for first reading.  Administration will review the policies at the meeting.
 
  • Policy 414 - Mandated Reporting of Child Neglect or Physical or Sexual Abuse
  • Policy 415 - Mandated Reporting of Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults
  • Policy 506 - District-Wide Student Discipline
  • Policy 806 - Crisis Management

The Curriculum/Policy Committee reviewed the policies at their committee meeting and supports the additions and revisions.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the first reading of the policies listed above.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Annually, the school board approves educational agreements between the District and various consultants, agencies and service providers.


RECOMMENDATION:

The administration recommends the board approve the following agreement:
  • Master Clinical Affiliation Agreement between the University of North Dakota and Alexandria Public Schools beginning June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2031
  • Memorandum of Agreement for Social Work between Minnesota State University Mankato and Alexandria Public Schools beginning August 3, 2026 through August 1, 2029
  • Sports Streaming Agreement between Leighton Media and Alexandria Public Schools for the term of two years
  • Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract between Ideal Energies, LLC
