5.11. 26/27 Student Handbook & Code of Conduct
Description:
Each year, the student handbook is reviewed, and changes are made to ensure the information is up-to-date and compliant with the School Code. In the past, this process was done solely via a committee of administrators and parents. As more legislation is passed and requirements change throughout the school year, this process was found to be neither efficient nor comprehensive in ensuring that all required information is included in a single document for ease of reference by students and parents. As a result, the District subscribed to the Illinois Principals' Association (IPA) Model Handbook beginning with the 2017/18 school year. This subscription provides "real-time" updates and revisions to a student handbook. Additionally, it aligns procedures and forms with the IASB PRESS service, which the Board uses to ensure our policies are up-to-date. Changes made for the upcoming year include:

5.12. Hazardous Road Walking Areas - C. Nelson
Description:
Background
Annually, the Board of Education is required to adopt a resolution to approve the serious safety findings for walking paths to school. To receive reimbursement for students who are transported but reside less than one and one-half miles from school. It is the recommendation of the Administration that the district continue this practice for the 2026/2027 school year. Areas were updated last year based upon a review of the transportation department. Recommendation It is the recommendation that the Board adopt the resolution for hazardous walking areas as presented. |

6.1. MOU with the McHenry County Department of Health
Description:
This MOU outlines the services the McHenry County Department of Health will provide at the D47 and D155 Resource Fair, including a mobile unit staffed by two registered nurses and two administrative assistants to provide immunizations. D155 already has the MOU established.

6.2. MOU with City of Crystal Lake
Description:
This MOU outlines how and when the City and first responders would have access to use and/or request access to the cameras and/or recordings installed throughout the district.

6.3. 1st Reading of Policy
Description:
The District has a subscription to the PRESS service from IASB, which issues guidance memos and language for consideration in policy and procedures. Suggested policy changes are placed on a regular Board agenda for a 1st reading and discussion following the release of a PRESS memo. During the next regular Board meeting, the policies will be placed on the agenda for a second reading. The practice of having a 1st and 2nd reading has been a District 47 procedure. A second reading allows the Board to hear feedback from interested parties, including staff, parents, students, and community members, either between the two scheduled Board meetings and/or during Citizens’ input prior to approving policy.

6.5. 2026/2027 Tentative Budget - C. Nelson
Description:
Background
Proposed 2026-2027 tentative budget. This information provides a summary of information related to the proposed tentative budget. The tentative budget has been prepared based upon anticipated staffing, current collective bargaining agreements, and the review of historical information regarding expenditures and revenues. Additional review and adjustments will be made and communicated prior to the adoption of the final budget in September. Unfortunately , educational funding is moving each day and adjustments will be made as better information is received from both the federal and state levels. Timeline The estimated timeline for the 2026-2027 budget adoption is as follows: 7/20/26 - Approve Tentative Budget By 8/13/26, the Administration publishes a public hearing notice in the local paper and makes the tentative budget available for public inspection. 9/21/26 — Board holds a public hearing on the budget and adopts the final budget (required by the School Code to be approved by 9/30/26) Prior to 9/30/26, the Administration files the final budget with the following: Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE); McHenry County Clerk; McHenry County Regional Office of Education and will also post it on the district website. Recommendation Based upon the aforementioned information, it is the Administration's recommendation that the Board approve the 2026/2027 tentative budget, publish the notice of budget hearing and display the tentative budget as presented. |
