1. Call Work Session to Order and Pledge of Allegiance

2. District Mission / Vision / Values Statement

Description: Mission Statement: "Educating each student to the highest standards while motivating them to reach their fullest potential and graduating them to be college, career and life ready."

3.a. Review Policy Protocol – questions and clarifications to establish a clear understanding of the work.

Description:

Policy proposals are referred to chair and superintendent for screening.
Expectations for a response.
Timeline
Evaluation criteria
Where, who and when work to be done.

3.b. Three Policy Pathways

Transformational - Engaged Policy Pathway
Periodic Review

3.c. Priority Prioritization — Board role with Staff Support

Description:

Discuss the balance of priorities and resources with Staff.
Discuss the creation of parameters to help prioritize - problem statements, rubrics, using questions in the Policy Protocol:
- Identify the issue
- Desired outcome
- Affected groups
- Guilding principles
- Proposed scope
- Estimated resources

3.d. Periodic Review

Description:

How to approach the entire policy manual.
Roles and responsibilities to maintain the work.
How a policy proposal gets referred into the policy review flow.How to balance staff load with routine policy work.

3.e. Policies on the Table Now

Description:

Use tools developed and discussion to prioritize the referred proposals:
- Contingency Fund Balance
- Attendance
- Large donations
- Others collected prior to the meeting.
Authorize work and scope decided, or add authorization to October agenda.

4. Adjourn the Work Session
