Description:
House Bill 3041 (2021) revised the statutory definition of sexual orientation (removed gender identity) and created a new definition for gender identity.

Description:
Senate Bill 602 passed in 2021 made a student's choice of opting out of a statewide summative assessment permanent and requiring them to opt-out annually.

13.a. Policy IHGA-AR: Alternative Activities to Earn Credit
Description:
The added language speaks to students earning credit for completing basic military training before high school graduation. This plan was created by the Oregon National Guard and is commonly known as "The Oregon Plan" . The Oregon Department has endorsed this plan and encourages all school districts to consider granting credit under this program.

Public Comments: The Board will accept public comment for the May 26th meeting. The Board is committed to the public comment process and will consider all public comment seriously. Public Comments will follow School Board Policy BDDH - Public Participation in Board Meetings.
Public Comment options: Sign-up to speak at the meeting: A sign-up form will be available for those wishing to speak to the school board in person. Comments will follow District Policy with up to 3 minutes allotted per person to speak. Sign-up to speak via Zoom Webinar: Please send an email to publiccomments@nwasco.k12.or.us to receive the Zoom webinar link and added to the speaker list.
