11.2.1. Dear IASB Members, I am pleased to share with you that the Illinois Association of School Boards has joined the new Consortium of State School Boards Associations (COSSBA) as a founding member. COSSBA is a national, non-partisan organization dedicated to sharing resources and information to support, promote, and strengthen state school boards associations as they serve their local school districts, boards of education, and school board members. As a founding member of COSSBA, IASB is part of the development and decision-making of the new organization’s governance structure. The first meeting of the transitional governing board will take place in April. The Consortium will focus on providing networking opportunities for local school board members, tracking of and advocating for federal education and judicial issues, and providing professional development for state association officers and leadership. IASB will keep you updated as more details develop—including sharing information about COSSBA events slated for 2022-2023. Thank you for your leadership, dedication, and service to students. Sincerely, Thomas E. Bertrand, Ph.D. |
