III. SERIES 2000: BYLAWS
Description:
The only change was to 2501A: modification of requiring notification to both the Superintendent and the Board President.
Plan to discuss 2306 Board Compensation at the BOE meeting. Review of Saginaw County Schools board policies on compensation: Bridgeport - "paid an annual stipend as determined by the BOE" Birch Run - no policy information on compensation Carrollton - no policy information on compensation Chesaning - could not find policy manual online Freeland - $30/board meeting Frankenmuth - no compensation, receive Athletic Pass Hemlock -"paid an annual stipend as determined by the BOE" Merrill - no policy on compensation Saginaw Public - $350/month Saginaw Twp - no compensation St. Charles - $50/board meeting Swan Valley - $300/year From Bob in regard to compensation: The current Board of Education compensation equates to approximately $25 per month, covering attendance at both regular board meetings and committee meetings. This compensation rate has remained unchanged for more than a decade and may have been in place for nearly 20 years. After reviewing compensation practices at comparable school districts, I found that the average board member receives approximately $30 per meeting, whether for regular board meetings, committee meetings, or districts that hold two board meetings each month. Based on this comparison, I recommend increasing compensation for members of the Swan Valley Board of Education to $35 per month. Rather than issuing monthly payments, compensation would continue to be paid as a single annual stipend of $420, distributed each December. This adjustment would better reflect the time, preparation, and commitment required to effectively serve on the Board while bringing Swan Valley's compensation more in line with neighboring districts. |

3106- Do we want to use 3106 F- this is new and has not been a requirement in the past. There could be some benefits to asking for this information, but it would also add to the administrative burden. Ask for it once? 3202 Do we want to change the percent? Discuss with whole BOE. |
