The Board of Education of Hermantown Independent School District No. 700 met in regular session on April 27, 2026. Vice Chair, Matthew Munger, called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

VII.A. Elementary, Middle, High School, and Community Education Reports
Discussion:
Muenich. Thanked Laurissa Mickelson and prom chaperones for making prom a nice night on Saturday. Congratulated Marissa Stifter and the High School Speech Team for a successful showing at the State Tournament. Paul Marinos won the Class AA Championship in Serious Interpretation, Izzy Lampi placed sixth in Humorous Interpretation and Alee DeVlieger placed sixth in Creative Expression. Tessa Sibell Scheppy, Onida Jashari and Linnea Wentzel also competed at State. The team finished 10th overall, its highest finish.
Wheitman. Numerous field trips are coming up for middle school students. The sixth graders are going to the State Capitol and history center, the seventh graders are going to a Minnesota Twins game, and the eighth graders are going to ValleyFair. Thanks to those teachers for the work in arranging those trips. Appelwick. Congratulated Trina LeGarde on her retirement. Trina has worked in the district since 2013 as a paraprofessional in all grades. She is a team player and a hard worker. We wish her the best on her next adventure. Whitwam. Bus Driver Appreciation Day is tomorrow and Staff Appreciation Week is the first full week of May. Peterson. Congratulated Lori Sinnott and Kevin Madseon on their success at the Math Masters Tournament. Had a team that finished first. McShane. Recognized that the High School Spring Play was last weekend and the success of the production. |

Discussion:
No significant changes in enrollment.

X.B. CTE Update
Discussion:
Recently met with Dunwoody Technical College about offering two new hybrid CTE classes at the high school beginning in the Fall, including Fundamentals of DC Circuits and Early Global Architecture.
Classes would be offered to the District free for the first year as an introductory rate. The only cost would be the purchase of virtual reality vision goggles. The second year, additional offerings will be added and the cost to the district will increase to $1,000 per student for the year. Students can take unlimited classes for the set rate. |

Discussion:
Attended a meeting at City Hall, where I received a copy of the tax abatement agreement. Sent to the school attorney to look over.

Discussion:
Griffith. Attended the PTO meeting. Held an election of new officers for next year. Also attended the Community Education meeting where summer programming was discussed. Also talked about additional seats for kids in pre-K due to State funding.
